Thank you for compliments for my country. Dubrovnik is really beautiful old town but it become very crowded. The same situation is with Split, old city that become growing industrial center. I am studying in Split and I will recommend you to visit old Diocletian (roman emperor) palace. But, there is another picture if you are traveling to the west. There you will see many little common-dalmatian towns where you can find peace and enjoy real mediterranean beauties. I live in such a town which name is Trogir (Greece colony: Tragurium; tragos means sheep because when Greece colonists discovered that land they saw large pack of sheep). Trogir is UNESCO town and did you now that it is unique town with the biggest number of cultural sightings on the smallest emplacement in the world. Because of that Trogir is nicknamed Town Monument! Dalmatian coast is very popular firstly because of extremely clean and untouched landscape. Our see is also extremely clean unlike Italian part of Adriatic (river Po). There are many differences between Dalmatia (south) and Zagreb (north). Here in Dalmatia we have Italian influence and Zagreb has Austrian. Of course, there is antipathy between these two regions (Zagreb is becoming richer and they are not helping periferia. We have many tourists from all parts of the world but no Americans. You usually say that our country is lacking in security. It was true 15 years ago but today Croatia is the most secure state in Europe. You live in a beautiful country, Holo.
I think the first thing people need to realize is that neither our enemies nor ourselves are evil, and that both sides believe they are right. Secondly, that the world does not "hate America" but much of the world hates a lot of America's recent actions. Thirdly, that our leaders are not stupid or full of mistakes, but very carefully planning everything out that they are doing. They didn't become the most powerful men in the world by making mistakes and walking blindly through things.
How is Dubrovnik, and Split. My father tells me great stories about these places though I have never been south of Zagreb in your country.
