I am excited for Mass Effect 2 -- I hope it delivers when it comes out!

^ While I never use biotics, I also think they might do you some good. It also reminds me to point out that your Overkill/Marksman/Carnage skill is invaluable. With proper use you can rid the fight with the matriarch of two or three Asari commanders right from the start.

Ok lad the trick with the buggy is lining up a shot taking it then moving forward a bit. This is in regards to geth armatures which are probably doing the killing. Do not remain stationary then move back line up another shot, flush and repeat. You can pawn geth armatures easily. As for smaller geth you can do that on rocket ones but the other weaker ones are just trash you could even just drive past them if you want.

As for party shit you got to move them into cover in front of you and stay behind the lines in order to get best effect from them. You do this with left arrow and right arrow key on the D-pad. when you want them formed up on you just press Down arrow key on the D-pad.

When inside you will be fighting rachni creatures I really cant stress how imba the vanguard class is. This is a soldier and biotic. If you arent one you need a biotic with you. Stasis and pull are incredibly useful abilities which will slow down there advance in order for you to kill them. Shotgun is a good weapon to be using on these buggers the big ones. When getting swarmed by little buggers use the assault rifle. Later in mass effect 2 the vanguard gets a biotic charge, The only trick for this is common sense dont use it into a spread out group where you get isolated. Once you master that your a wrecking ball.

In regards to boss fights on humanoids you gotta always be using special abilities. On the matriarch she will do crowd control shit on you, A very big bad ass Stasis which will freeze you all in the room from time to time. Send 1 of your guys to each side behind cover they will die in this fight a few times. But issuing that order will maximise how long they stay in the fight and also help you deal with the asari commandoes coming down either side. Yet again use right bumper and spam powers at every opportune time. Speed is essential you gotta kill them commandoes fast cause the big momma is constantly doing shit. Also its nice to have Unity for this fight but dont fret you can still solo it if gets hectic and teammates are dead, Use cover

cool cool... jayjohn i need to use the formation of my group more ...i either forget to or just get bombarded and never set the group to advance up ahead for battle.
last thing...i hope... is there a way to get trained on weapons? i have 2 weapons that say i am not trained on and i tried the shotgun but the range marker was so HUGE that i was standing like 4 feet from a guy and completely missed him! is the training back on the main ship where you go to take the Helm of the Normandy? i have no idea what the name of the huge spacestation is?
most of my squad all different ones have only training on 2 weapons

I suggest the use of shotguns on the rachni creatures because your in corridors and you will get rushed by the buggers.Assault rifle for smaller swarms for burst damage.

Sorry I should have clarified when on Asari commandoes or anything else your best to use assault rifle but be prepared to hit the right bumper or left bumper(whichever is weapons in mass effect 1) to quickly get out the shotgun if the Asari chick gets close. But remember Biotics on them after you brought there shields down with gun fire....Remember if they get close and are doing you serious damage and your in a jam bringing up the power menu pauses the game, A quick pull or stasis can literally save your ass.

Weapon training in mass effect 1 comes under your assault training option and/or spectre training. The assault training might be something else dependant on class but putting points in it usually unlocks a extra weapon. However not all classes can use all the weapons except the soldier.

I'm liking the game so far but whoever decided it would be a good idea to do the mining via that planet scanning thing needs to be kicked in the head. That thing is boring and just slows the game down. I hope in the next one they eliminate it.

Maybe make it a sidequest where you go to these mining colonies and have to perform certain tasks on each one like kill off a bunch of aliens in the mines, find parts for and fix a generator, etc. Then when you complete the quest then the colony rewards by giving you a certain percentage of their findings, which keep getting added to your account as you continue playing.

Or they can do it this way and that is if you kill an enemy then you get to salvage some kind of mineral from their body. I don't know about you guys but I miss all the pick-ups so this would at least add something to the game.

^ I didn't mind the mining process. It doesn't take long to get enough resources to upgrade weapons, and I think it makes sense for you to have to work for the ship upgrades.

Third playthrough is done.

*spoilers?*

I decided to try and have as many people die as possible on this playthrough to make it different from my other two playthroughs. This time I also got Morinth instead of Samara.

I didn't upgrade my shields, and so during the approach to the collector base, Legion got caught in an explosion and died. Then, because he voluntered, I selected Jacob for the mission in the tube - ended up getting a rocket to the face. For the biotic part, I chose Morinth, and in the end Thane got carried away by the swarms. I have no idea how that happened because Morinth was loyal. I also didn't get there in time to save the whole crew; I saw Kelly get liquified.

I finally finished my Paragon playthrough. I like to take my time with this franchise because I think it deserves it. Anyway I'm most proud of keeping my entire team alive and intact during the final mission and can't wait to hopefully see them in Mass Effect 3. Unfortunately I've dumped Ashley for Miranda. Ashley chews me out on Horizon and then has the nerve to send me an email about how she's sorry but we've changed! Fuck her! If she joins my crew in ME3 then we can be friends but I'm with Miranda now. We'll see how Liara reacts when I go through my Renegade playthrough.

Man I just played the first one again for a new class change. I actually forgot alot of shit about the first one so apologise if my earlier advice isnt 100 per cent accurate in regards to assault training etc. The guns are actually listed in the abilities screen whalers and also you will get another once you get your prestige class.

However having said this though I am glad the Mako shit isnt in this second one, I do find they have seriously dumbed the game down a bit. It also seems bloody shorter for a 2 disc game.

On a good point though the story is good and due to playing the first one a serious speculation hit me. Bear with me here its kinda whack but I think its going to happen as it would make for one bitching plot twist in the third one.

The illusive man do you notice in the game it really makes a point about showing his eyes. They are really blue and look cybernetic

Saren Towards the end of mass Effect the whole indoctrination thing is really fleshed out and once again we get scenes really focusing on his eyes and face, Yes he has more extensive cybernetics but its the blue eyes that has me pondering.

I propose that either the Illusive man was once indoctrinated by a reaper hence his knowledge on them or he is in fact working for a reaper. This could fit with the notion that the reapers are quite autonomous so some might not be actually working together. As in they have the same goal but approach it differently.

Cerberus the whole thing is too cozy as well, its destined to end in tears. Getting shafted as in Shepard by these guys is going to be inevitable in the third one.

i know im way fucking late with this.
i figured i would post here cause all of you probably finished the game.
i just got around to the 1st mass effect (i had a long line of games to play  )
i am currently hating this game cause it takes me 2,3,4 or 5 times to do one mission section. i went to the 1st planet to peek15 to go after the matriarch.
my squad pretty much die quick (i always hear "my shields are gone")
and i am left to beat 2,3 or 6 guys by myself.
i dont have great skills and it sucks having to do the same freaking thing over and over like half a dozen times cause my group and i keep getting killed!
i tried to really get into it today, i have to do the whole hangar mission over a bunch where the Geth have some creatures in supply cases. i got into the vehicle to drive to peak15 and died like 4 times.
i am starting to learn i have to save after every little fire fight or gun battle.
but i got so pissed off today that after dying the 4th time i just popped the game out and shut the system off my blood was BOILING!
ANY HINTS on how to get my shooting better? my shields better? my squad to actually put up some sorta fight and not go out with a wimper?
thanks from a frustrated mass effect 1 player.
hope you are all having fun with Mass Effect 2

thanks for that ill give it some looking over.
i think i have it on middle type difficulty.i think i was the same when i started KOTOR i hated the game until i got my character up to a decent level (not terrible not great) then leveled up accordingly to what i felt i needed to be better at. here im just trying to get my squad to be good shots to be able to kill the enemy in 1 or 2 tries.
Any suggestions on the best 2 other members of your squad?

i have gotten past the whole cliffside icy snow ride and i have made it into a bunker? and when i go through the door there are 2 giant red robotic type enemies, and 3 of those big round snail like creatures. ....I CANT GET PAST THIS SIMPLE DOCK AREA!!! should i just leave and come back when my squad can last more than 5 seconds in a fire fight?
i am way late playing this game since ME2 has come out already but i am real close to giving up on this game.

If by red robotic type enemies you mean the Krogan I like to stay back and use armor piercing rounds on them. Never get close to Krogan because they like to charge. I'm not sure what you mean by big round snail like creatures but definitely look for some cover during a firefight and make sure you and your squad have the best in armor and weapons. Add some upgrades to your weapons and armor as well.

He might be talking about a Geth Destroyer. I remember this area, it always gave me troubles as well.

At this point, if you've tried everything we suggested, I suggest turning the difficulty down until you get a better hang of the game.

i do use cover, and i have gotten to the point where there is one of those snail guys left but then he does charge at me and my firing rate, accuracy, shields arent the best and i get killed again.

We call the snail guys krogan. What you need to remember for those guys is to never let them charge you. Never get close to them until they're dead or they will kill you easy. If you have to get close, make sure you have overkill/carnage/whatever activated.

Also don't forget that the Krogan can regenerate after they've been put down once. So sometimes you gotta make sure that they're dead. Of course if you any ammo that prevents regeneration then that will work just fine.

OK,Krogan i was looking all over the net for their name.
warrior, i realized that after i killed one and the aiming reticle continued to pop up when he was down on the ground.
So Plasma, i lowered the difficulty and i have gotten pretty far since my continued dying issues. i feel like im cheating not playing on normal. but hopefully i can get going on this game and get to ME2 before ME3 would come out

Typically when you get farther in the game it becomes really easy, so when you get going at the game, turn it up a notch. There's so many options in that game, you can go back and play the entire thing on normal and have a different game entirely.

i think its funny that about 5 times outta 15 or so i had just one more krogan to kill to finish that specific spot. but that last one always came out for cover to charge me. when i lowered the difficulty then beat that last one i was like HUH? that was the last guy i had to kill to finish. damn.
im understanding the level up better and what i need to get more of at the start. still trying to understand the upgrades and if i keep choosing...say... armor piercing rounds what does it mean? do i need to change ammo rounds each fight? like the armor ones for one battle then the chemical ones for another battle? other than that im pretty much moving ahead pretty decent.
THANKS to you guys for your insight ill give some rep once im allowed to spread it around more.

I tended to keep what ever ammo I had unless I had a problem with a particular enemy. After I died I would just load the game back up then switch the ammo.

I always use armor piercing rounds. When you shoot and enemy you see their life bar. Occasionally some will have shields or armor (I believe they are blue and yellow bars, opposed to the normal red). The armor piercing rounds just mean that you do more damage to an enemies armor - in effect, they make your bullets more powerful. I never use chemical rounds; I never really needed them.
