2 Category 4's for me in 3 weeks. Charley barely missed me. At least Frances must cross the peninsular and lose a little power before it hits me. It might be down to a 2 before I get it.

aside from the utter chaos going on under that white circle, that is one nice pic. it's amazing how pretty those satellite photos can be. i would liken it to looking at a hi rez pic of a supernova or the storm on jupiter

I read that they arent even really sure when it will hit. They think it will slow down, but its possible it might speed up. Hell I could have told everyone that. I just hope it goes completely against what they are forecasting and goes out to sea. It probably wont, but we can hope cant we

That's the eastern end of Cuba in the forground, looking east. Haiti and Dom. Rep. is half coverd by Frances.

This really makes you think about life in general, all the shit you buy in your life (cars, houses, uh, I need a new cellphone and what not...) and how it can be destroyed by the infinite power of nature from one moment to another...

They look like glammed up weather channel pics. I dunno, something just doesn't looks 'real'. Maybe its just me. Still look cool.

The last one of cuba definitely looks real though.

The fake-ish looking pictures are composites. They are black and white infrared cloud layer images like this (hope you can read TIFF images) superimposed on a computer generated globe to exagerate global features. Notice you can barely make out Florida in the Infrared image.

They are done be the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES for short).
