how to ask a moderator a question?

When I have a question for a moderator, how do I know which moderator(s) handles a particular subject, and for the quickest answer do I need to know which one(s) are on duty an any given time? How can I tell? Do I PM him/her or what? Will everybody be able to see my question? Thx!

There aren't any "assigned" mods, so if you have a question about anything, just send it to one of them and they'll get back to you. If you want to know who is online, look at the little circle next to each of our names. If we are online, it's green.

There may not be any assigned moderators, but I can sure tell that in practice some mods are much more dedicated to certain tasks than others. For example, when it comes to merging threads it seems that king1919 (and now Connor Macleod) are the most active by far. However, thread merges should always be reported to their own thread in this section, not by PM or the report function.
