how many outdoorsmen are there here

just wondering how many outdoorsmen there were on this board. please do not post if you plan on saying a bunch of negative shit if you dont like it keep it to yourself or post it in one of the other threads that already have discusions going on hunting. me personly i love every part of the outdoors, i really love watching the sun come up while waiting for the first flying ducks to pass or hopfully come in. i also like hearing the woods come to life as everything wakes up. i also like to bowfish there is nothing like it when you have to either be very fast and be good at judging depth, and also i enjoy a day of shooting and competition, pistol, rifle, and shotgun.

what about you.

I love the outdoors as much as you do, sir, but I don't like to kill animals, so I think we love it for different reasons.

no i bet you we love it for the same reasons but i just do a little more than look. thanks for not going on about the hunting.

if i were to kill and animal i would do it with a spear or something giving the animal a fair chance

So, as long as the animal had a "fair Chance", would that better justify the killing?

Ofcourse it wouldnt , there is really no excuse for killing an animal if it doesnt attack you

this isnt a thread for those who want to ban the killing of animals if you want to you can say so in the hunting thread lets try and keep this on peaceful.

i am an outdoorsman of a different sort i guess. I enjoy spotting and tracking, but not a killer, I only kill irritating gophers that take my golf balls in their holes :p

Yeah, I like to go outside and play basketball and stuff of that nature. But never to kill animals.

I don't really mind if people go hunting, that is if they don't hunt for animals that are almost extinct.

I wish there was a sport where you put humans(hunters more exact) in an open field and have tigers with laser beams shoot them. That would be a bad ass sport. I would pay to see that.

I do not enjoy the outdoors as much as I used to. I used to love being out in the woods, seeing and being with mother nature is an amazing feeling.

I get to shoot firearms on a regular basis (job perk). I enjoy it as well. Firing a firearm is a skill and not easily done by anyone. Anyone can pull a trigger, but to be accurate takes skill.

“Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.”

I love the outdoors. Although, even for me it can get old after a while. Some people think it is going to be greater than it is until they get out there and start freezing or sit and stare at a fire all day long while getting bitten by mosquitoes for hours on end. Then it doesn't seem as fun anymore. Still the best part about it for me is that I can be by myself and it lets me think more than I would otherwise. Sometimes when you’re out there just by yourself, you can just let yourself go and feel free in a way that you couldn't anywhere else.

I like the steel and glass of the city.

As a child guns were on the streets and scared me, and after using them in the Army, I hope I never see one agian.

i somtimes find that when i am out hunting or hiking that i just dont think, i dont have the worries that i somtimes have at home or work i just disapears. but then there are times when i think way to much. and when im shooting a match i just focus on normal shooting skills, fast smooth draw, trigger control, target aquisition. i guess i dont really have to think hard on it but i dont think about anything else while shooting.

I think you get that feeling of peace by doing any basic human activity. Running, walking, swimming, calisthenics, working with your hands. I think people are more "stressed" because they are cramming themselves like cattle into offices and conforming to a company ideal, and are loosing touch with basic humanity. I understand the draw of hunting in the great outdoors, the careful preparation of yourself and your equipment, moving like an animal through nature, the quiet intensity of stalking and waiting, and that final moment when it all comes together. It's not blood lust, it's work that people enjoy, hard work that rewards itself.

IMO people hunt for the same reason they work-out, they gamble, thrill-seek. A desire to put learned skills to use at activities that bring enjoyment. Unlike your 9-5 these activities give you a deep sense of peace.

I love to just sit and watch birds or other wildlife and to hear the 'dawn chorus' of birdsong in the morning, is so soothing.

I'm lucky enough to life in the Lake District in the north of England, some of the most beautiful scenery is just on my doorstep.

i love to go to hunting camp and here all of the stories, and spend time with friends and family, sitting there drinking and watching the fire on a cold night.
I also like just being outside, there is nothing like a country sunrise or sunset.

Im not an outdoorsman cause I live in the city, but I think if I had the chance to go camping or hiking or something I think I would like it.

you very well might, if you can step back and really look at and appriciate the beauty. there are so many things to see, hear, smell, and touch. its amazing. its really fun when you can go to a new place and walk and explore new land.
