Hot Dogs

No ketchup for me. I hate it on my dogs.

In Chicago, its practically against the law. Most places won't put it on a dog if you order it with "everything." Many places don't even carry ketchup.

I've heard rumors of people getting kicked out of hot dog joints for asking for ketchup, though I'm not sure if this is true.

I go with a dressed down version of the Chicago style dog: mustard, relish, onions, pickle, poppy seed bun, celery salt. I leave out the tomatos and peppers.

How do you take your hot dogs?

If its a decent hotdog properly cooked, I'll often take it completely plain. A Hebrew National straight off the grill in a fresh bun is pretty tasty all on its own. If not plain, then usually onions and a bit of mustard. No ketchup ever, though.

I never got people that put ketchup on a hot dog. They need to have their sanity checked. Where I live there are a lot of people that put ketchup on it. Of course that would explain a lot of things about the area I live in and the people here. :1orglaugh

BBQed or broiled with dill pickle spears (no sweet pickles) and yes . . . mustard. :yummie: (not Dijon mustard either), just real plain 'merican mustard.

I agree with NoMan, Hebrew Nat'® are the best, although they've really gone skimpy like a pinky finger lately. and they only give you 7 dogs per package !
:WTF: am I supposed to do with the extra hot dog bun . . . feed the blue jays ?

You should be arrested, put in jail and have the keys tossed in the Indian Ocean if you like anything that has to do with tomatoes on your dog !!!!!

On a Hot Dog, I prefer just yellow mustard and some relish. On a Bratwurst or other sausage, well, sky's the limit. Also, I don't eat ketchup/catsup on anything but shoestring French fries, or cooked atop a meatloaf.
