Horse Lays Egg in Triple Crown Bid

In related news, Brad Keselowski won his first Nationwide series race this weekend, and nobody had to beat a horse with a fuckin' stick to do it.

This is mostly correct, but far less so for horse racing (and poker). In the latter two skill is a much greater factor than in casino games because you're not betting against the house, you're betting against other players, with the house making their profit off of a fixed, lesser % agent rake that has no stake in which player wins.

I wouldn't say that either. Just like in sports betting where you need to beat the spread, the line on where the odds fall is adjusted so that the house makes out no matter what and the winnings people get are reduced as much as possible. Of course you could always get lucky and get a good bet in early, but like all gambling your more likely to loose.

Poker and blackjack(if you can get away with counting cards in it) are pretty much the only thing you can consistently make money on if your good. Even in poker to make any real money you either need to get endorsements like some people get now (which means your not really making money off of the poker) or you need to play against suckers either online or in real life that don’t know what they are doing. Even the top poker players loose a lot more often than they win against people that know what their doing.

Don't worry, those suckers are EVERYWHERE, online and on land

Even the top poker players loose a lot more often than they win against people that know what their doing.
Don't top players "know what they're doing"?

I may have misunderstood you here D, but betting on horses and poker is not like betting on sports. You're right that sportsbooks shift the line in order to mazimize their profits. Racetracks don't. They get a fixed % of the amount bet no matter which horse wins.
