Herman Cain would sign abortion amendment

The old democrats (Kennedy's) are not socialiats (but close to it).

Mr. Obama has been associated with known socialists and communists. But his actions speak louder than his mere association (People used to say guilty by association but I give Mr. Obama the benefits of the doubts on this one): Instigating class warefare. Radically expanding the federal government (EPA, regulations ....).

This has happened to many states already. Democrats put their states under fiscal trouble (huge budget deficit). Republicans have to clean it up and in the process get hammered for doing so.

It's reckless and irresponsible to spend away taxpayers' money to get yourselves elected and re-elected (It's not their money. It's taxpayers' so they don't care) and then leave problems to other people to fix it.

Indeed. $1.4 trillion in interest on Reagan/Bush debt.

If you use this logic, you could say part of Bush 43's 4 trillions are interest of other presidents before him, Democrats and Republicans.

To simplify it, if it happens under your watch, it's yours.

If you use this logic, Mr. Reagans could very well say his 1.8 trillions deficit is interest of FDR and other Democrats and Republicans.

Remember that Mr. Reagan was in the heart of the cold war. Billions of dollars were spent on the security of this country, Europe and the world.

Every president since Truman paid down on the national debt, including Carter. Reagan reversed that trend with big tax cuts. Voodoo economics. Reagan started borrowing and spending. Bush I continued that policy. Clinton reversed it and Bush II reversed Clinton. It's really not that hard to follow. So no, you can't "simplify it" that way, unless you're a republican and want to avoid responsibility for disastrous policies.

Blue - I'm a democrat but I agree that Edwards, Gingrinch and Clinton are all scumbags of nearly equal proportions. Clinton perhaps slightly less than the other two, but only slightly.
Really, only slightly?
What's a man to do with himself after surviving a honeymoon with a same sex pref woman like Hilary?
Geesh, cut the guy some slack already!
:D

As for Mr. Gingrich: His record as Speaker of the House is common knowledge.

Oversaw the Republican Revolution of 1994. In 1995 he rallied congress to balance the budget within seven years and rejected Clinton's policies that allowed that to happen.

You're right. The man has done nothing. :D

Seeing that you yourself are confused about the balanced budget of the 90's, I would say its not common knowledge at all.

Gingrich passed a so called welfare reform which reduced the deficit by 12 billion a year and then went on to pass a bunch of new tax cuts which cost the government about 9 billion a year. Now if you think that the budget was balanced because of the 3 billion that Gingrich saved instead of the booming economy or the Clinton tax hikes, the simple question is - where did the balanced budgets go when Bush came into office, afterall the Gingrich policies were still in place and Republicans still had the Congress.

.

Why don't you pick a state, say California and elaborate more - it would be good entertainment.

What kept Clinton from implementing such was the Republicans controlled the congress. See Newt Gingrich.

For all the "surplus" talk about Clinton, he did accumute about 1.4 trillions in national debt. See http://www.craigsteiner.us/articles/16.

Clinton implemented the higher tax rates BEFORE Gingrich controlled Congress took over.

And Clinton did pay down the public debt, which is what counts.

The top-1-percent pay 40 % of tax revenue (the government collects annually). The top-10-percent pay around 70 %. The bottom-47-percent pay nothing in tax. How much is fair?

Money makes money. Investing money also entails risks. Some make tons of money. Others file for chapter 11. This is the market at work.

Income or wealth redistribution is the core of socialism and communism. It does not work. Been there seen that. Once you level the income, tax revenue will go down significantly. The government runs out of money. See communist countries and socialist countries in Europe.

Human nature does not work well in socialism or communism. If a doctor's salary is not that much different from a janitor's, nobody will thrive to become a doctor. The Viet Cong created a whole bunch of lazy people (They now wake up like China and allow free market to thrive). People usually want to pursuit their own happiness, not for the collective bunch.

I have a relative living in Denmark. And people over there are really lazy. Can't blame them. Tax is too high. Why works when you just sit home and collect welfare.

Here we go again with the talking points. Yes 47% dont pay income taxes, but do you know why they don't pay federal income taxes? it's because they're poor, they have no money. Income taxes aren’t the only kind of federal taxes that people pay. There are also payroll taxes, investment taxes and excise taxes, among others. And, of course, people pay state and local taxes, too.

(Ahem) Back on topic....

If true, I cannot vote for Herman Cain so he has lost a potential swing voter due to his decision to pander to the extreme right. I still think he has some good qualities but unfortunately for him this is a deal-breaker for me. Jon Huntsman, anyone? :dunno:

Jon Huntsman is polling at 1%, that's the price you pay for being reasonable in the current Republican party.

If you're under certain amount of earned income, you will get a tax refund (temporarily withheld). Been there done that a few years back.

That being said, this means somebody else cover the rest of the tax revenue. And they are being demonized for doing so. Accused of not paying their fair share. What's fair share?

Adding all different kinds of taxes, I end up paying around 50 % in tax. Want to tax me more?

You don't want 47 % go up to 57 % or more. If it happens, we will become Europe. Europeans pay much higher taxes than Americans and yet they are heading for bankruptcy. Socialism is unsustanable.

http://sfist.com/2011/05/18/california_budget_deficit_slips_bel.php. California is still under 9 billions in budget deficit. They got 6 billions from raising tax on the upper-income taxpayers. This won't last, however. Once people and business owners seek greener pastures elsewhere, there'll be less people to pay that tax.
