Have you ever been in Italy?

Rey C.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
No, but I really want to go some day. My girl's sister and brother-in-law spent a week in Rome last summer. From listening to them and seeing the pics they took, I know they had a FANTASTIC time!

To get the most out of it, I'd like to either go with them (he's a history teacher and fellow Romaphile), or maybe arrange a tour with someone like Laura Sabbadin. I took Italian in college but I know that I'm very rusty now. But I'd be willing to put in some study time so I could enjoy it more.

Interesting country with a rich, magnificent history. :hatsoff:

Yes, enjoyed the site, the food, the history and the beautiful women. Would love to go back soon and visit more cities next time.

Most Italians can't drive well though, getting onto a car was a harrowing experience!

Have you ever been in my multi-faceted country? And where? Which are your impressions on locations, climates, peoples, cultures?

Yup... conference trip to Loano. Didn't seem much of Italy per se since I spent most of the time with my colleagues.

A few remarks though...

- We visited a local winery/oil farm. A very pleasant little family company, where they received us in their kitchen. A sommelier was present and his tastevin caught my interrest. He explained happily what is was and how it worked, through the help of our interpreter.

- Loano was pretty much closed since it was only april and it's your typical tourist town with hardly any locals, just a bunch of rich people having summer houses/apartments there. The only things open were a bar and a iceceam parlor, with live music! That was fun.

- After having gotten ourselves blind drunk and walking up the hill to our hotel, we met a couple of local policemen. They were very friendly and made no gesture towards lecturing or booking us stupid tourists. But perhaps it was because we were actually quite well behaved. :)

- The Toirano caves are fuckin' amazing.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
Mr Berlusconi was very nice. My sister didn't seem to like him though, the meeting between them seemed to leave a bitter taste in her mouth...
i have never been to italy but i've always wanted to go. i also want to visit Zurich Switzerland. I have a good friend who lives there that i met on myspace and i would to meet her. we talk all the time. i also want to visit Toronto Canada.....who am i kidding i want to move there lol.
Switzerland is great. Bern and Grindelwald are best.
I'd like to move to Canukia too...
Used to live in Sardinia, have friends living in Castiglione del Lago, vacationed there and in Rome several times.

I LOVE Italy. After New York, Rome is about the only other place in the world I'd want to live if I could chose anywhere.
Yet you live in Canukia, why?

Yeah, I've been to Italy, Florence is amazing.

I have to say though, and this was really surprising, but Italy seemed very run down. Like, I couldn't tell if I was in Rome or Mexico half the time. :dunno:

The food is great, and the people were mostly nice, but... it was weird.

They did, for a while. Before they realised I wasn't beholden to their laughable human authority and never will be. Of course they still went ahead with their little Soviet style show trial in order to appease the baying masses and the petty disease spreading leeches who call themselves "journalists" before quietly letting me out the back door.

It's all public relations these days, Big U. The justice system is a disgrace.

If I were you, I'd visit your family.
I've met many Italians, I've liked 90% of 'em.
I hear some good things about Italy. Go there. Enjoy your self.

But that's just my 2 cents.
BTW, I hope your family raised you bilingual. Few assets beat that.

Yes, I have. In and around Aviano (military related). Loved the area, the people, the scenery (nature and girls!:drool1:), the food, the beer, the wine. Hmmm....maybe I'll go back for a visit again.

Is somewhere outhere.
Eih dude, Which lakes have you seen? Garda, Maggiore? I know them both? Wich cities on the shores of the two basins?

Just Como (Lecco & Varenna) and Iseo (Iseo,Monte Iseo,San Marasino &
Sulzano) We were staying in Bergamo at the time, which was a pretty nice
town as well.

Yes, I have been to Italy. :) A majority of my family lives there. I've been a few times. My family lives near Florence. I love Venice though, so different and unique. The history in Italia is mind blowing.
