Guns do not save lives

Hey, I'm not a gun enthusiast at all so I definitely defer to y'all. All I'm saying is I like my Mossberg shotgun and it makes me feel safe if intruders were to threaten my home (I also have a .38 pistol, mainly for my wife). I'm not going house-to-house fighting no matter what so if that ever happens in my neighborhood I'll empty all six rounds from my shotgun and hope the cops show up before it's too late.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
My Arsenal SGL-21 has put some respectable groups on paper at 200 yards. Using an Aimpoint red dot. Obviously they're not MOA groups, but still not bad for what it is. My WASR-10? Not so much. It was the first AK I bought after the AW Ban ended in '04 and I put it through hell and it still performs perfectly. But the accuracy is limited considerably...compared the Arsenal. WARs get a lot of shit, but I've really enjoyed the one I bought.

Aim Surplus is selling a Century Arms 100% US made RPK with a thousand rounds of 7.62 x 39 for $1,000. I'm tempted to pick one up just because I never imagined I'd ever see a US made RPK in my life. Semi-auto RPKs feel a little gimmicky to me, but it's still a cool thing have for the range.

The only Ak I would consider buying, is a real one. They are getting hard to come buy, and more expensive every day...kinda like the FN FAL's. The last good ones came out of Egypt, but there are a couple good Chinese brands...I just figure if you're gonna have one, it's gotta be the right one. I'm not a big fan, so for me, that's the logic of buying an AK. Also, I tend to buy thinks that fall into the standard NATO boundaries. I'm not even a big fan of AR's, for me, .308 is the only way to go. But like we said, we like what we like, and if you're happy and comfortable shooting it, it's the right gun.

by law you have to register a car if you own it and renew that registration every year. I have a Mossberg 12 gauge but I don't like the pistol grip. It sits right next to my bed. I also carry my 38 revolver in my purse with the rounded hammer so it won't snag on anything. I have a CCW permit.

What do you do in such situation:

The criminal has broken into your house at night, he has a gun in his hand and he tells you to give your money and jewelry

1. You're trying to shoot him

2. You do what he tells you to do

I hate to play the age card here but just give it a few years and you start getting some arthritic issues going on in your hands, Mariah. :yesyes:

Fixed.

You know Jag, I never thought I would pull this line on you, but you leave me no choice....

Last time I checked, it wasn't called the bill of needs.

Hey I just caught this so please allow me to qualify my statement. I should have said that I personally see no need to own a weapon like that. If you are a gun collector or shooting enthusiast and want to own a full-automatic military grade weapon, OK by me (as long as you don't turn it on me and the other unsuspecting patrons in some movie theater ;)). I would never need to own one nor would I ever choose to own one. And, unless I misread the reasons for Mariah's motivation to own one, I don't think it's probably in her best interests to have one sitting around the house either although she is certainly within her rights to do so. Just my opinion so....

My shit, with the exception of 2 gun's, a .380 in my nightstand and my .40cal. Sig, which is in a small safe, in a locked cabinet, are in a 700lb safe. I buy high end products, and I take very good care of them. I even have a separate locked cabinet for my ammo. This is why I get so pissed off at people that blame guns for everything. My stuff is secured, and I should not pay the price for someone else's criminal activity, not to mention, I have NEVER once, seen one of my guns, climb out of the safe, load itself, and go hunting. You and I have had a very respectful discussion regarding capitol punishment, and I know neither of us will likely change our minds, but when someone commits a crime, and is clearly caught on camera doing it, and the DNA evidence is overwhelming...what can I say? On the other end, when someone commits a crime with a gun, like armed robbery, most states have a mandatory prison sentence, my thought is, if they are willing to have their trigger finger removed surgically, we take a couple years off...if they do it again, take em both, and double the sentence....because I shouldn't loose my rights because of some fucking asshat. I'll even go so far as to say, take an eye, so they can't aim...most people would say cut the genitals off of a child molester, or rapist, why not make it impossible for a shooter to aim a gun at a victim?

Just a thought, that's all I'm sayin'.

I don't see what my post has to do with any of what you just said but....go ahead and get it off your chest I suppose. :dunno:

I guess a lot of it doesn't...but the part about them sitting around the house, or turning them on someone...they're locked up, and secure, so it's hard to get to them, and for them to be stolen, because of the safe. The rest was just a rant, and I guess maybe a suggestion for punishments to help preserve gun owners rights. Like I said, just sayin'. And maybe some other gun owners might have some opinions on how to preserve our rights, as opposed to giving them up.

You have to say this in such a situation:

"If you shoot me, I will kill you"

There's no time for that unfortunately.

I wasn't referring specifically to you, rev. Would you not agree that there are irresponsible gun owners out there? If I remember correctly, Mariah has small kids at home. Yet she leaves a loaded shotgun sitting next to her bed? Is that being a responsible gun owner? (If that is not correct, Mariah, please set the record straight and accept my apology). What about this asshole who is on trial right now for killing all those people at the theater in Colorado? Is he a responsible gun owner? Those are the people who present the greatest threat to your right to bear arms....those who abuse that right by infringing on the rights of others to not be shot to death, either accidentally or on purpose.

a gun saved my life. fan didn't get the response from me he wanted, hired a PI and got my home address and drove 1600 miles to my house. he sat in front of my house down the street til he saw me come home (he had knocked throughout the day) and waited an hour or so and jumped my privacy fence in my backyard not knowing I was sitting outside having a smoke with my pistol in my lap....I took it outside with me because I lived on a lake and my dog had been bitten by a water moccasin. He nearly shit his pants when he came around the side of the house and I was pointing a S&W .40 at his face (I heard him jump down off the 8 foot fence) He had a BIG knife and gloves and a brand new unopened roll of crabbing line in his pockets. What would have happened to me if I had not had my pistol with me? My gun saved my life. Period. A baseball bat or cricket bat or some bullshit wouldn't have done shit.
I didn't shoot him but he was arrested and went to jail. he'll be out next year probably.

I'm pretty sure a cricket bat would have done the job. You just need to know how to use it. Willow seasoned in linseed oil should never be under estimated.

Of course there are irresponsible gun owners, they ruin it for people like me, and while I wouldn't keep a loaded shotgun next to my bed, or an unlocked handgun if I had children, I would have a small personal safe. they make them now, with quick key pads, or touch pad access. I don't know if she said she did or not, but if she has kids at home, I wouldn't recommend it, but I would endorse the method I suggested, and if she has stalker issues, and has a permit, or at home, and has full control of the weapon, I agree with her. As far as the guy in the theater, I remember it happening, and I know he's on trial, I just can't recall if he's even allowed to own a weapon. People site the tragedy at Sandyhook, which was a tragedy, but fail to be clear about the fact that, the shooter killed his mother, to get the guns, wasn't allowed to own a gun, and his mother was trying to get him institutionalized because of his mental illness, which was one of the factors in his decision to run amok. Many of the assholes that commit these crimes aren't even legal gun owners. That's why I get so pissed at people wanting to ban and restrict guns. Criminals don't obey laws, I do.

Taking into consideration a cricket bat might be about 48" long, plus her reach, which I will guess at about 27" vs. his reach, at a guess of 33", plus the knife, the time for her to bring the bat back vs his speed lunging forward, vs a 165grn projectile traveling roughly 1100 feet per second. A projectile which could easily turn a cricket bat into tooth picks...I'll take the gun any day. There's an old saying, never bring a knife, to a gun fight...it works like that with blunt objects too. The only mistake she made, was not to put a round through his chest. If he brandished that knife, and she had proof he was stalking, and there was clear forensic evidence he was coming towards her, she would have walked. The only state she would have gotten less grief from, is Texas.

Please elaborate. Not sure what you mean by this....

It was just a joke dude....you have discourse, or intercourse...not gettin any, so I get discourse. Wow, I thought that was a pretty good one. Glad you didn't pay a cover charge, aren't you?
