Global Force Wrestling continues to build, landing in Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom

On the heels of partnership agreements with the top promotions in Japan and Mexico, Global Force Wrestling has formed an alliance with several of the top independent wrestling promotions throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom, Germany and Ireland.

Stepping forward to #JointheForce are Revolution Pro Wrestling ( www.revolutionprowrestling.com, covering south of England),

New Generation Wrestling ( www.ngwuk.com, covering north of England),

Premier British Wrestling ( www.pbwwrestling.com, covering Scotland),

Westside Xtreme Wrestling ( www.wxw-wrestling.com, covering Germany),

Emerald Wrestling Promotions ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/Emerald-Wrestling-Promotions/100651866652805, covering Ireland).

“If you look through the history of pro wrestling, you’ll find great talent from Europe woven throughout,” Global Force Wrestling founder and CEO Jeff Jarrett said. “We put the word ‘Global’ in this new brand, and we meant it. We believe fans want a wrestling promotion that brings something new and exciting and will engage them at every turn, and that’s what we’re going to do.”

Veteran wrestler Doug Williams, a multiple singles and tag team champion in his native England and in various U.S. promotions including TNA, has been instrumental in helping Global Force Wrestling orchestrate this European alliance.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Force, and I really look forward to helping facilitate the relationships between GFW and these top independent wrestling promotions,” Williams said. “The European style will bring something a little different to the table, just as the other partners will. I can’t wait to see it all come together under one umbrella.”

GFW announced partnerships with Mexico’s AAA on April 29 and with New Japan Pro Wrestling on June 23.

Major TNA/WCW Name Joins New Japan’s Bullet Club Faction; Who Won This Year’s G1 Climax Tournament?

In major breaking international news, TNA Wrestling co-founder and former WCW/WWE star Jeff Jarrett invaded New Japan Pro Wrestling’s show this weekend at the Seibu Dome. Jarrett, along with Scott D’Amore, came down at first to stop IWGP Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles and the Bullet Clup from attacking Tanahashi. They then revealed a guitar with the words “Bullet Club” on it, and joined the infamous faction in devastating Tanahashi.

Jarrett was on-hand at the event to cement Global Force Wrestling’s partnership with New Japan.

In the finals of the 2014 G1 Climax tournament – which many are calling not only better than last year’s tournament, but the best tournament in all of wrestling history – Kazuchika Okada defeated Shinsuke Nakamura. Okada is now a two-time G1 winner, and will use his win as leverage to chase AJ Styles and the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Global Force Wrestling: An Up To Date Account

For those who don't know yet, Global Force Wrestling is the newest wrestling promotion founded by Jeff Jarrett, also founder of TNA, and his wife Karen Jarrett. Global Force Wrestling has stated that their goal is to produce a more fan friendly and interactive promotion "unlike any other".

"We are going to put out a professional wrestling product that listens to the fans, engages the fans. We are going to immerse ourselves with the wrestling fan and that is going to be first and foremost" - Jeff Jarrett.

So far we know this much:

April 7, 2014

After months of speculation and build up, Jeff Jarrett officially announces the launch of his new wrestling promotion, Global Force Wrestling.

"Because of new media, new technology and more 'in-tune' fans than we've ever had, wrestling is poised for another boom like it experienced in the mid-1980s and late 1990s. What we're going to deliver is a multi-platform, innovative brand that will engage fans in ways they've never experienced. It will provide a fresh perspective inside the business that fans have been clamouring for."

April 15, 2014GFW announced that they had signed a deal with 25/7 Productions. Although a television deal has still not been announced, 25/7 has said they will be producing all GFW television programming. They have also stated that they intend to create new on-air content 52 weeks of the year, that means going toe to toe with WWE and TNA.April 21, 2014
GFW announced that NASCAR driver and self confessed "lifelong long wrestling fan", Hermie Sadler had signed on to the board of directors.April 29, 2014
GFW announced they had reached a partnership with AAA, Mexico's top wrestling promotion. The two companies will exchange talent for events held both in the United States and Mexico.

May 17, 2014
GFW announced another deal, this time with Japanese promotion Inoki Genome Federation.

June 1, 2014
Global Force Wrestling held their first 'talent search' try outs in Canada. Those trying out performed short matches and had some promo time.Wrestlers offered tryouts included:- Krimson

- Moose
- Kongo Kong
- Jake Omen
- Tyson Dux
- Taeler Hendrix

There were more that tried out, who I weren't able to identify. But a pretty good talent pool for their first round of try outs.
Here is the video of the try outs.

June 12, 2014
WWE released nine wrestlers from contract. I felt this was relevant as it means nine more wrestlers looking for work, with large promotion experience. They were:- Evan Bourne
- JTG
- Drew McIntyre
- Jinder Mahal
- Curt Hawkins
- Brodus Clay
- Camacho
- Yoshi Tatsu
- Aksana

GFW couldn't go wrong signing even a few of those under utilised WWE talent.

June 21, 2014
GFW announced another deal, with Japanese promotion New Japan Pro Wrestling. They too will exchange talent for shows in both the United States and Japan.

July 3, 2014
It was announced that Jeff Jarrett was supposedly intending to use the six sided ring concept for GFW, before TNA adopted it in June. The word circulating was that TNA adopted the ring to "beat Jarrett to the punch". It makes sense for Jarrett to have the idea given that he was the one who introduced the six sided ring to TNA in the first place. Personally I think they dodged a bullet.

July 10, 2014
GFW announced more partnerships, this time with multiple European promotions.- Revolution Pro Wrestling (covering south of England)
- New Generation Wrestling (covering north of England)
- Premier British Wrestling (covering Scotland)
- Westside Xtreme Wrestling (covering Germany)
- Emerald Pro Wrestling (covering Ireland)In Jarrett's statement he said "We put the word Global in this new brand, and we meant it".July 27, 2014
News broke that Spike TV and TNA were on rocky ground. If this ultimately leads to the closure of TNA, that would mean three things:
1) The full TNA roster looking for work, with large company experience and personal ties to Jarrett.
2) The title of "number two wrestling promotion in America" is now open for the filling.
3) Jeff Jarrett is no longer invested in another company (he is still an investor and minority shareholder in TNA at this time).

GFW would now have his full focus. This, of course, all rests on the outcome of this ongoing TNA saga.

August 5, 2014
GFW announced yet another partnership, this time with South African promotion World Wrestling Professionals. WWP runs shows throughout Africa and India.August 10, 2014
Jeff Jarrett and GFW manager Scott D'Amore joined New Japan Pro Wrestling stable the Bullet Club. GFW had previously announced a deal with NJPW and Jarrett was reportedly in Japan to cement the partership. That is all we know so far but expect more on this topic as I intend to try to keep you informed with any updates, important rumours or announcements, and analyse what those updates mean.

Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling has a pay-per-view scheduled with providers on January 4th, 2015. This would be the same date as New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual Tokyo Dome event.

It appears Jarrett’s GFW has brokered a deal to bring the Tokyo Dome show to the United States on pay-per-view. Sources indicate that the deal and all marketing for the pay-per-view would be branded GFW, not New Japan.

Jarrett declined to comment on this story.

The Hall of Famer has called more pro wrestling PPV events than any broadcaster and is regarded as the greatest, play-by-play announcer in wrestling history. I never thought I’d ever return to ringside for a wrestling event but this opportunity was just too special to turn down.”

GFW founder and CEO Jeff Jarrett said he had been working on lining up Ross for weeks.

“When you think of the great events in wrestling over the past 30 years one of the things they have in common is the man behind the microphone. And that man is Jim Ross,” Jarrett said. “I’m excited for this event, and I’m excited for good ol’ JR to be a part of it. Jeff Jarrett Reveals Future Plans For Global Force Wrestling

A big question in professional wrestling is the future of Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling brand, and exactly what it is. GFW is responsible for bringing the New Japan Tokyo Dome show to U.S. pay-per-view for the first time on January 4th, and has been in talks with dozens of promotions around the world, but they have never announced official plans to roll out their own show.

This week, the “King of the Mountain” and TNA co-founder sat down with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross to reveal major plans for the future.

“We’re going to have our own roster, with our own distribution model, with our own live events, sponsorship and everything that goes with it … In years past, each wrestling promotion acted within its own world. I have a 180-degree philosophy. New Japan exists and they’re thriving. AAA in Mexico exists and they’re thriving. There are many promotions around the world … We are going to promote them, and they’ll promote us. We’re going to find talent and put them on a grand stage, and we’re going to have a talent exchange, because I believe that makes the business healthy.”

Jarrett noted that he did not want to rush the product like so many companies have done with wrestling promotions, only to fall on their face. Their goal is to continue getting the brand out there, and creating a partnership with people like New Japan that will help create a growing interest for Global Force Wrestling by the time they launch their own show.

Check out the complete interview between JR and Jeff Jarrett on “The Ross Report” via PodcastOne.com. The two also discuss their thoughts on last weekend’s WWE TLC pay-per-view, more promotions that GFW has been in talks with, and a lot more.

Jarrett was also interviewed on “Main Event Madness Radio” this week, which you can check out by clicking here. Here are some highlights from the interview:

His greatest in-ring accomplishment:

“Inside the ring, you know, it goes without saying, anybody that’s ever laced up a pair of boots, anyone that’s wanted to be a professional wrestler that became a professional wrestler, they want to be world champion. So when I reached that goal, I was very, very happy. Every world title I’ve ever won was a proud moment, the first time I won the Intercontinental title back in ’95, I really enjoyed that. When I look back on my career, you have different phases of your career, and I enjoyed my time and series of matches with Shawn Michaels. Just a couple years ago my series of matches with Kurt Angle… those are some of the highlights.”

If he thought TNA would last as long as it has when it started:

“I’ve been asked that question several different ways, when anybody starts a business, you envision it being around for a long time. Nobody starts a business and says, ‘hey I’m gonna be around for a month or two.’ So absolutely, I did everything in my power and was very pleased with my time in TNA.”

Jeff also talked about GFW’s WrestleKingdom 9 event in January and scenarios surrounding it, Global Force Wrestling’s short-term and long-term future and more. You can check out the full episode Article

Roster Predictions

Global Force Wrestling has slowly been raising the curtain that has made them a mystery since Jeff Jarrett announced its formation in April. However, one of the bigger GFW mysteries is still a mystery. Just which wrestlers will make up the initial Global Force Wrestling roster.Jarrett will need a good mix of youth, experience and his own special ingredient to create the roster. Jarrett’s special ingredient will be untapped international talent through his various working agreements with other pro wrestling companies from around the world. I have some thoughts and did some homework recently that I’d like to share.

I’ll start with the international talent that may end up in Global Force Wrestling. I viewed hours of youtube videos and have come up with a small list…

Travis Banks 5’9 200lbs, New Zealand

Travis Banks is a two time New Zealand Heavyweight Champion in Impact Pro Wrestling. After watching some video, Banks reminds me a lot of WWE‘s Daniel Bryan.According to the IPW website,Banks “spent three months in Japan, living and training at the Zero-1 dojo in Tokyo.”

SLEX 5’9 200lbs, Australia

SLEX has won titles all over Australia. After watching video of him, he reminded me a lot of TNA Wrestling‘s Austin Aries. According to the WrestleClash website,”in 2013 he toured with Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan competing in the Jr Heavyweight Tag Team tournament teaming with ROH star Roderick Strong.”

Zack Sabre Jr. 6' 185lbs, England

Zack Sabre Jr. is another smaller competitor very reminiscent of Daniel Bryan. Sabre Jr. has wrestled for a number of different promotions throughout the UK, Germany and Japan. In addition to being a very successful singles competitor, he is also a part of a very successful tag team called Leaders of the New School.

Rampage Brown 6’1 233lbs, England

Rampage Brown is a very accomplished wrestler who as been on the verge of breaking through into both WWE and TNA Wrestling in the past.Brown competes in a number of wrestling promotions throughout the UK including Revolution Pro Wrestling and New Generation Wrestling. What I saw of Brown was a solid wrestler who plays a solid heel role.

El Ligero 5’10 170lbs, England

El Ligero is actually one of Rampage Brown’s rivals. He too competes throughout the UK and has also wrestled for Pro Wrestling NOAH. Ligero is an exciting high flyer who is in excellent physical condition. Ligero would be a welcome addition to a Global Force Wrestling cruiserweight division.

2 Unlimited Patrick & Jay, Ireland

2 Unlimited is a very exciting tag team that competes throughout the UK including Emerald Wrestling Promotions and Revolution Pro Wrestling. They are very up tempo with a lot of double team moves which I enjoy in smaller, high flying tag teams.

Big Daddy Walter 6’3 300lbs, Germany

Big Daddy Walter is the reigning Westside Xtreme Wrestling Unified World Heavyweight Champion in Germany. Walter is a big guy who wrestles at a very methodical pace. He is athletic for his size. In appearance he reminds me of TNA Wrestling’s Samoa Joe but his wrestling style is a more traditional mat based one. Walter is a breath of fresh air in an age where a wrestler’s body type has become very uniform in general.

Sangram Singh 6’1 220lbs, India

Sangram Singh is an Indian celebrity and is one of the greatest pro wrestlers to hail from India. He also wrestles for South Africa’s World Wrestling Professionals. According to the WWP website, Singh “is one of the greatest Indian wrestlers in history, is not only a successful wrestler but one of the most famous celebrities in India, becoming a finalist on Survivor: India and starring in the Bollywood hit Valentine’s Night.” India is a market that Jarrett has tried tackling before with the Ring Ka King promotion. Singh could be a key to Global Force Wrestling success in India.

I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on the household names that could be making their way to Global Force Wrestling. Their names are very recognizable. I think AAA in Mexico and New Japan Pro Wrestling could be a great provider of household names for the roster. Alberto El Patrón aka Alberto Del Rio, Myzteziz aka the original Sin Cara and El Mesías aka Judas Mesias could head up a group of AAA wrestlers we could see in Global Force Wrestling. NJPW could provide great talent such as the Bullet Club, Killer Elite Squad and TNA alum Alex Shelley. The Bullet Club includes AJ Styles and the Young Bucks. The reigning NWA World Tag Team Champions Killer Elite Squad are Davey Boy Smith Jr aka David Hart Smith and Lance Archer aka Lance Hoyt. There is also a chance Chris Sabin and Chris Hero also make their way onto the Global Force Wrestling roster. Former WWE Superstar Drew Galloway aka Drew McIntyre is also a notable name that Jarrett could be considering. There’s also veteran Joe E. Legend who wrestles for World Wrestling Professionals. He’s wrestled for both TNA and WWE as Just Joe.

I’m sure there are many other talented and notable wrestlers out there on Jarrett’s radar. It will be interesting to see just who makes it onto the initial Global Force Wrestling roster.
