George Michael gets jail time

George Michael was sentenced to eight weeks in jail and lost his license for five years yesterday for driving under the influence of drugs when he crashed his car into a London photo shop. A British judge told the wayward star his addiction to marijuana put him and the public at risk. The former Wham! singer pleaded guilty last month to driving under the influence and possession of cannabis following a July 4 accident in which he drove his Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps store in north London. District Judge John Perkins told the singer he had taken a “dangerous and unpredictable mix’’ of prescription drugs and marijuana. Perkins sentenced Michael to the prison time and a $1,930 fine. The judge said Michael would have to serve four weeks of the sentence in prison and the rest on parole.

really, that is insane if you think about it. in America that would get you thrown in prison, and our prisons are nothing like the hotels your Europeans lay out for your convicts. our prisons really are universities for producing nothing but scum.

You forget though that in the US he would have been released in a day or 2 due to "overcrowding". Celebs get their ass kissed every day in jail then leave to million dollar pay days with interviews, pics, book deal, movie deals etc.

They are not hotels, do not judge them until you've seen them.
Your prisons by the way are run as businesses, divorcing the prison system from any concept of justice.

just like youre in no position to get assume you understand the madness of some of our criminals (hence the vile prison system to begin with). just like Europeans are in no position to arrogantly flaunt about how we Americans are a bunch of maniacs who shouldnt be able to own a weapon. stick to your side of the pond. btw, i know not all European prisons are like hotels but surely some are.
