Game of Thrones

Hopefully the lesson taught has been learned: a dude with a bunch of ugly daughters is not to be fucked with!

BTW, was the uncle of the groom, who literally went to take a piss just before the fun started, in on it, just like the other guy who married one of the ugly daughters for her weight in silver?

that would be this guy.

Catelyns uncle and Robbs great uncle.
i was wondering the same but according to Stiff he got away or just wasnt a target.
But might as well kill him too i would think.
Now Brutus from Rome aka Edmure , what happened to him? according the the wiki he's alive, but he's obviously gonna want revenge.........and i don't see what value he has.

Also Bolton, he is an in law of the Freys and I guess he did the dirty deed done dirt cheap for his father in law, but I wonder if he did it on behest of the Lannisters too because they think the Stark boys are dead and with Robb dead to Sansa is the heir of the north, hence Tyrion too.
or maybe he did it to cover his ass for what his men did to Jaime. Either way he's a douche.

And Arya, good thing The Hound took his time eating those pigs feet otherwise she'd be sleeping with the fishes too. Poor girl has had it the roughest. And now she has no value for him so who knows what he'll do with her.

Lotta crap went down just for the priviledge of crossing a bridge.

Also, where did Jon ride off to? He just had one more guy to take out before he took off like that.

If they try and stay relatively faithful to the book, he's escaped somehow and made his way safely back to Riverrun somehow. Because that's where he stayed in the book, and that's where we would meet him next. But I don't know if they'll make anything of that particular storyline or not. People that I thought were bigger deals than The Blackfish in the book haven't even been in the show at all so fuck knows.

that would be this guy.

He took Roslin to bed and is now a valuable prisoner. He's the Lord of Riverrun, he's worth something to someone.

There was indeed communication between Lord Tywin and Lord Bolton. In fact, he had already betrayed the Starks once by leading a large portion of the Stark forces into a "trap" sprang by a Lannister-Tyrell army in which half the Northern forces were killed - although Bolton's own men were kept in reserve and so were conveniently not killed. Which meant his forces were at full strength to slaughter many of the remaining Stark bannermen gathered at the Twins.

That Tywin is no lion.

Tell that to those dead wolves.

In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws.

I'm pretty much the only person on the planet who just doesn't "get" this show... I've attempted to watch it three times now, every time I find myself getting bored and ignoring it again for another 6 months. But dammit I feel left out! What the hell is wrong with me? I just feel like I'm watching Harry Potter or something. Pixies and magic just don't bind well with me.

I often forget the magic aspect 'til it pops up and reminds you. Otherwise, it's a pretty melodramatic period ("forgotten age") piece.

Alcohol can save lives...see The Blackfish ;)

I understand why a lot of fans are upset about how the wedding party went down. But I gave this episode a 3  on my Tivo. I loved it! I was surprised. I was shocked. They did not follow any sort of PC Hollywood formula and that's what made this episode a gem that I'll surely watch again.

As for Arya and the Hound, other than him killing the b#tcher's boy (is there any word combo here that isn't porn related?!), I think those two are actually closer to being alike than Arya would want to admit. They've both been influenced by pretty shitty experiences at young ages. They both hate Joffrey and the other Lannisters. There may be an uncomfortable alliance in the making there, if there isn't already.

You like to to read about history around the time of Henry VIII, right? My history obsession is ancient Rome. What do you think of all these newspaper columnists and (so called) fans who are now saying that they'll never watch this show again because they stabbed the cute, bug-eyed girl, Rob's pregnant wife? You think maybe these people should take a read or two of history around the time of jolly old Henry or that life of the party, Caligula? This is just a freakin' TV show! What Henry, Caligula and many, many others did in history was real! Good grief! But I love how HBO decided to write this episode hard and leave it hard. Like Cersei Lannister said: "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground." Preach on, sister!

I read the first 2 books, and I'm just watching the episodes now to follow the story.
And I am so angry and a bit sad at the dead Starks piling up.
I know the 2 boys and 2 girls are all alive, and my revenge will be bloody and slow.

Families killed in front of their Lords before a slow death visited on them by sadistic professionals.
Or maybe forcing them to listen to Obama speeches...I'm ok with the most horrible and painful end possible.

Lannister screams are gonna be like Nightingale song in early evening...music to my ears.

I still miss Ned Stark...

Yeah. You can't have a chapter of a book as rough as The Red Wedding and not translate it into TV that kicks you in the balls and leaves you lying on the floor in agony. Actually, the bit that's troubling me far more than any of the human deaths is Arya seeing Grey Wind's eyes close. That's roughed me up.

The worst bit of that chapter of the book - from Cat's POV - is her final thought. As she's kneeling there screaming, thinking about all her dead children and raking at her face with her nails, she feels a hand grab her hair and yank it back, and all she thinks is "Don't cut my hair... Ned loves my hair..." before they slit her throat.

Always a pleasure discussing the story with you Stiff.

Hey spleen how ya been?
Well, a big part of understanding the story, as in real history, is understanding who's who and who's connected to who and how. I watched the first episode 2 years ago, and decided I didn't have time to figure it out so I waited. After the first 5 or so episode the table is set then it takes off into a somewhat complex and very interested story. Also a lot of subtle things that if you catch make the story even more interesting.
Pixies? its not Hairy Potter or lard of the rings, there is really very little fantasy involved except for the Dragons but in that world Dragons are possible. And the White Walkers, but theyre just cool.

Yeah, Arya and Sandor are very alike. i love their scenes. And he did kill the meat cutters boy but that was an order. I suppose if he didn't do it someone else would have.
Also as you know he did disregard orders by King Douche to save Sansa when the mob had her on her back to take her every which way and leave her with her throat slit.
Don't know why he hates the Brotherhood so much, seems like they have a lot in common......but I'm sure there is a reason.
I remember you like Roman history. I've read a good deal about time from Julius Ceasar through the first few "Emperors' as we call them today. Its awesome history. I'm a big fan of Ciccero btw.
The history of England from the early Kings to Elizabeth has been my great interest. This story uses elements of both eras I think.

Oh Sansa, hotter than Dornish asphalt.

S3E9 is just one yellow jump suit short of being as morbidly/comically/ostentatiously grotesque as Kill Bill.

What a fucking blood bath.

Watching Game of Thrones is like having sex. You just want to keep going until it just isn't possible for you to go any further due to lack of more to experience. That being said, the best way to watch this show is definitely on DVD/Blu-Ray. I'm thinking about cancelling my HBO (10 bucks a month or so) and just buying the seasons when they are released since each episode leads into the next.
