The funnier thing about the story is, she gets interviewed and the people in the background at the news station keep laughing whenever the clip gets replayed.
But I think she has a point: This video should not have been ******, and the mall must compensate for the leak.
Still: If you are so stupid as texting while walking (Luckily, she did not do this while driving), you must be aware people will rightfully laugh about you walking into things.
I walked into a lamppost when I was 17, but I had a good excuse: In front of me walked that incredible hot girl from a parallel class ^^

I agree with Supadupafly. It was stupid, if I walk when I text, which is rare now (cause in 2008 I almost got hit by a car) I am very careful. **** to say it but it is funny. She should be angry though because someone at the mall thought it was a winner and put it on Youtube: Wrong! Should have stayed private.

People are stupid. Earlier today a woman was walking down the corridor, turned around and walked backwards so as to face her friend while speaking and walked into me.
I said "Hi!"
Looking back I don't know why I stopped before she walked into me. Second time it's happened within last 7 days as well.
It's always women not paying attention to surroundings, that's what I notice.

I liked how George couldn't hold back his amusement.
Reminds me of all the staged/fake "Funniest Home Videos". So now people will be staging texting accidents for the ability to sue others. Another opportunistic way to make money with the porous sue happy American judicial system.

She obviously saw it on youtube and knew it was her. Then she starts telling her teary-eyed story.

3. They ****** the video? So what, it's their's generally. If they ****** video of their mall surveillance...that's what it is she just happened to be in the video dumping her dumb ass in the drink. If it was a copy by cell phone video she stands even less of a chance. She was in a public place open to public view and she has no expectation of privacy. Besides, who knew who she was until she came from behind that grainy video to complain??

Exactly. Nobody knew who this woman was until she claimed to be humiliated by the "leak".
The saddest thing is that she's no bitching that nobody came to her aid...she fell into a fucking fountain and got up within 2 seconds!
America really truly needs some form of penalty for those who file such dumb ass lawsuits. No jury will side with this idiot, but there's a chance the mall will settle for a few grand to avoid the headache.

did anybody here about this, while she may sue, and she may win, coming forward was probably the dumbest thing Cathy Marrero has ever done… well, second dumbest thing, after falling into a mall fountain while sending text messages, that is. By coming forward, not only has she said to the world that she’s so stupid she can’t text and walk at the same time, she’s also exposed herself to prosecution by authorities.
As it turns out, Ms. Cruz Marrero has a criminal record. It seems she used a stolen credit card to charge $5000 worth of goods and promised she’d repay the balance by October 2009; she didn’t repay, and now her greedy lawsuit has exposed her as a criminal facing felony theft charges.
What a fucking douche bag. I really hope that not only does the case gets thrown out, but she is then saddled with court costs/lawyer fees. You've got to be kidding me......she's not paying attention in a PUBLIC place, and she's getting all teary eyed because she fucking sucks?! I wish I knew her.....I'd fucking dunk her in another fountain the second I got the chance.
Now the story begins to take shape....just another scam artist. My bullshit alarm went off when I listened to her and watched this as my first thought was, she 'works' in the mall and doesn't know that huge ass fountain is in the middle of it???
Damn! Now I wish she would have tried to file an insurance claim and really got herself in more trouble.:o
