Politicians, Jewish Groups Slam F1 Head For 'Bizarre' Comments

Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone faced criticism from politicians and Jewish groups Saturday after being quoted as saying that Adolf Hitler "got things done."

In an interview with London's The Times newspaper, Ecclestone expressed a preference for "strong leaders," citing former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Max Mosley, outgoing head of Formula One's governing body, as examples.

He was quoted as saying that democracy "hasn't done a lot of good for many countries — including this one."

"In a lot of ways, terrible to say this I suppose, but apart from the fact that Hitler got taken away and persuaded to do things that I have no idea whether he wanted to do or not, he was in the way that he could command a lot of people, able to get things done," Ecclestone was quoted as saying.

"In the end he got lost, so he wasn't a very good dictator."

Ecclestone also said the West had been wrong to depose Iraq's Sadam Hussein, saying: "He was the only one who could control that country."

The Board of Deputies of British Jews told The Times that Ecclestone's views were "quite bizarre," and Jewish Chronicle editor Stephen Pollard said he was "either an idiot or morally repulsive." Labour Party lawmaker Denis MacShane told the newspaper that the remarks revealed ignorance of history and "a complete lack of judgment."

Calls to Ecclestone's London office were not immediately returned Saturday.

Ecclestone, who owns F1's commercial rights, is no stranger to controversial remarks. He once said women should dress in white "like all other domestic appliances."

In The Times interview, Ecclestone said that had been a joke, adding "I would love to have a good lady race driver and preferably black and Jewish too, but they might take maternity leave."

Hitler was one of the smartest politicians to ever walk the earth. He knew how to put his agendas into play and have people believing his every word. Not saying he was a great man, but ya know he knew how to create turmoil put it into play.

"Diablo walks the Earth" - how do we kill it for our free anni?

Oh, Hitler did get things done. He's not wrong in saying that. Slavery got things done too. So does terrorism. He didn't seem to be condoning what the man did, just his political skill.

I'm more concerned with him praising Thatcher, though. That she-beast was the devil incarnate, a harpy who murdered one of her own MPs and ruined entire towns and cities with her greed, and has the gall to demand a state funeral. I'd have given her that state funeral years ago.

Poor old Bernie. His pal Max gets caught getting his ass whipped by a bunch of hookers, then his wife leaves him, now F1 is on the verge of imploding on his watch.

He's always said whacky things, but this one is up there. He'll be dead soon... then things in F1 will really get bad. Asshole though he may be, he does keep the trains running on time (kinda like Mussolini).

Bernie turned Formula One into what it is now. But he is a very strange little man. Probably not as strange as his pal Max Mosley, but strange none the less.

Ya know, I just realized something. Bernie's youngest daughter is named Petra.

OK, so if I have insulted the dad of our fine and wonderful moderator, Petra, I didn't mean any of it. In fact, I was drunk when I said it. Crazy out of my head on hooch. I don't even remember saying it. :ban: No!!!

Anyway, here's a photo of Bernie, his daughter, Petra (quite a looker), and his soon to be ex-wife, Slavica. Yeah, the women are fairly tall, but Bernie is also pretty damn short! Crazy f'ing dwarf!

Come to think of it, you're right, the pubes are about as socialized as their democratic counterparts. :D

I didn't know they had Formula One in Narnia.

Bernie has worked with Max Mosely for many years. Now there's a man who has more than a passing familiarity with Nazism

What about Eddie Jordan where does he place in all of this, umm . . mess? :1orglaugh

I'm not sure. Eddie's not really a part of Formula One any longer. He sold his team several years ago and it's gone through several owners since then. You see him walking around the paddock prior to some races, but that's about it AFAIK.

I sure do miss the way Eddie did things though. The girls. The fun. Mouthing off and getting Max and Bernie all worked up. Everybody in F1 is too corporate and PC now. I wasn't a big fan of his, but I miss Eddie Irvine too. He was pretty much the last of the racing playboys. If CART had lived on, I like to think Irvine might have come over here and raced some. Imagine getting to hang out with him, Paul Tracy and Tommy Kendall after a race... in let's say, Vegas! Take plenty of bail money... you'd likely need it. :nanner:

All this fucking fuss about F!1 . And why!!!!?? Just because of the 'credit crunch'. Shame on you Bernie

(You still got a roller; what about the rest of us?? :nono: :1orglaugh

^^It was only a matter of time...the long and short of it (with apologies :clown:

Mrs Ecclestone, 50, was granted a decree nisi in the High Court on the grounds that the 24-year marriage had "irretrievably" broken down because of her husband's "unreasonable behaviour".

So what is this about? Did he make her wear a saddle and ride her around the house or something? I mean, he's so little, he shouldn't have been that heavy! Damn unreasonable woman!

As money-wise as I've always thought Bernie to be, I often thought it odd that he'd put everything he had in his wife's name. Unless he had some pictures of her doing something illegal, that just seemed crazy as hell to me. He's quite a twist though.

He's now a commentator for the BBC along side David Coulthard for the build up show.

This guy is so full of shit...and I really hope this whole pathetic circus called Formula1 will cease to exist...the sooner the better.
