In case you havent noticed, these have all been at Monaco. Every pic up until race day will be from there.

What a gorgeous car! Lauda was my favorite driver when I was a ***. I remember my little redneck classmates teasing me because I liked a girl racer. They were talking about Niki Lauda. I'm pretty sure that's part of what caused me to begin seeing rednecks as a worthless and disposable life form.

For anyone who appreciates the golden age feel of Formula One, the classic movie, Grand Prix (1966), has been available on DVD for a few years now. Speedvision used to show it every Thanksgiving. But when Fox took over and renamed the network "Speed Channel", they took away most of the sports car programming, cult racing movies and eclectic presenters (including Bruce Dern and the Speedvision cop). The last version they showed featured James Garner and Jacques Villeneuve commenting on the movie during breaks. It was amazing! But this DVD comes very close, as they've included a James Garner commentary. It includes these special features:

Special Features

New digital transfer from restored 65mm elements with a soundtrack remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1
"Pushing the Limit: The Making of Grand Prix" - 40th Anniversary making-of documentary
"Flat Out: Formula One in the Sixties" featurette
"The Style and Sound of Speed" - a look at the style of Saul Bass and the film's sound design
"Brands Hatch: Behind the Checkered Flag" - Behind the scenes tour of the famous raceway used in the movie
"Grand Prix: Challenge of the Champions" - archival 1960s featurette behind-the-scenes at the Grand Prix
Theatrical trailer

BTW, since we're on a porn board, here's a little known factoid. The brilliant director of this film, John Frankenheimer, dated Christy Canyon after she got divorced back in 1999 (she said that she didn't really know who he was though). And the person who set her up with Frankenheimer? Ron Jeremy! Even if you're not a huge racing fan, this is still a very good movie. And it's also one you can watch with your girlfriend, even if she isn't in to racing. It's as much a human interest film/soap opera, with a racing backdrop, as anything. It's available at a lot of places. But at Amazon, it's $7.98 for the 2 disc DVD or $9.99 for the wide screen Blu-ray.
