I seriously can't believe Ferrari fucked up their strategy yet again. Last race, they didn't pit Alonso and this time they pitted him waaaay too early.

I am happy that the FIA finally addressed Maldonado's driving. I just hope if it continues, they'll lay a heftier smack down on him. He's kind of becoming a mini Alonso.

I thought all Mad-naldo got was a fine and a reprimand. I think they should bench him for one race and give him some time to think about how fortunate he is to be in F1 (because he is connected to the oil filled teat of Comrade Hugo).

I still can't stand the guy. But I admit that he drove a brilliant race in taking that win for Williams a few weeks back. But now he's returned to his previous form, the one he had through most of his GP2 days: a crash prone goof.

BTW, fantastic drive by Webber yesterday! :nanner: I've always kind of liked him. And the fact that he did what Lewis and the McLaren gang couldn't do (take it to Alonso) really makes me like him even more. Great drive. Great victory! Now, Mark, do whatever it takes to make sure that Alonso doesn't win the WDC!

Mark Webber is staying with Red Bull!

Red Bull Racing have announced that Mark Webber’s contract has been extended for another year, meaning the Australian will continue to drive for the team in 2013. Webber, who won Sunday’s British round, has been at Red Bull since 2007.

“Mark has driven very well in the first nine races of this season and his performance has been impressive,” explained team principal Christian Horner. “Much of his Formula One success has been during his time with Red Bull Racing and together we have achieved 10 poles, nine wins and 31 podiums.

“As there was a strong desire from both sides to continue the partnership, it was a logical decision to extend our relationship and it is with great pleasure that we confirm Mark will drive for us in 2013.”

Webber has won nine Grands Prix and scored 24 podium places during his time with Red Bull and currently lies second to Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in the driver standings.

“I’m high on confidence at the moment and firing on all cylinders,” said Webber. “I know the team well and I’m very comfortable here; we have grown together over the years and it feels like absolutely the right thing to stay with Red Bull for another season.

"The team is constantly working hard to improve in all areas and we’ve shown that together we can win races. It’s great to be able to make this announcement off the back of the win in Silverstone at the weekend and I’m looking forward to competing on the edge and pushing myself in every race again next season.”

Webber’s contract extension means that Red Bull will enjoy stability in its driver line-up for a fifth consecutive season, as Webber’s team mate Sebastian Vettel will also be driving next season.

What a season this is turning out to be. Although I'm getting sick of this whole tyre thing now. Sure tyre management should be a big skill for a driver, but this is taking the piss. Two races now I feel as if Alonso has been cheated out from a victory. Although fair play to Mark Webber, I'm happy he took the victory instead. Always liked him, always thought he's deserved a title by now which unfortunately bad luck has always got in his way. Hopefully this year it's going to go down to Alonso vs Webber, although I do think Alonso right now is the best driver on the track and has been for some years now, a big part of me wants Webber to win it this year simply because he's running out of time and is getting on a bit.

I have to disagree with Alonso being the best driver. It is very difficult to tell at the moment - it is all too close.
As for tyre management...
All the teams are in the same boat, so I think it just makes for more interesting racing. Hamilton and Alonso got it wrong on Sunday. Both should have started on the softer compound tyres to get them out of the way, along with the rest of the field. Hamilton's team then made a worse mistake by sticking on the softs in the second stint. Rain would have made the whole thing moot, though.

As Larss said, all the teams are in the same boat with tire management. Just like McClaren obviously didn't have it together in the pit lane for 6 of the 8 races so far, Ferrari doesn't have it together with strategy. I think Pirelli is doing a bang up job with the tires this year and it's making for a very interesting and exciting year because the tire strategies are really being played up each race.

Oh, and for Hamilton, I really don't think it was the tires that put him where he finished. I honestly think it was the wet setup on the car. Most of the teams and drivers were expecting the same treatment as qualifiy and since they can't change setups before the race, they were stuck. And Hamilton's car just didn't have the speed...better tire strategy might have found a few seconds but not enough to keep 1st. Now, if everyone would have pitted a 3rd time like McClaren was hoping, perhaps he'd have been up a few more places but thats' about it.

Germany will be interesting. ;-)

Yes, Lewis was never going to win this one, but he could have had another place or two.

Marussia: De Villota making a remarkable recovery

Marussia have reported that test driver Maria de Villota continues to improve and is ‘communicating freely’ with her family and the medical team at the UK’s Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge.

"By Sunday morning, Maria was awake and able to speak to her family, which provided a very important - albeit early - indication that there were positive signs for Maria’s recovery. Since that time, Maria has been making small but significant steps.

"She was moved out of the Neurological Critical Care Unit on Monday and is no longer receiving sedation. Her family remain by her side and she is communicating freely with them and the medical team. Medical assessments are ongoing to monitor Maria’s improving condition.”

Ma Qing Hua makes history for China at Silverstone test

Ma Qing Hua became the first Chinese-born driver to test a Formula One car on Thursday at this week’s young driver session at Silverstone. Qing Hua made his way out on to the UK track for HRT shortly after the circuit opened at 0900 hours local time.

Although fellow Chinese driver Ho-Pin Tung tested with Williams back in 2003, Tung was born in the Netherlands, not China, which makes Qing Hua the first Chinese-born driver to participate in an official Formula One event.

I know a way any team would win. Kidnap Danica Patrick (from nascar and bring her back,) strip her naked, and use her as a F1 hood orniment. Those nipples would get so cold from the wind, they would definately pop out.

How does that help? The extra weight would fuck up the front downforce

I want to see Kimi Raikonen on the Champagne show again... He is one of the best and agressive drivers in this sport...

I agree. Just from the way that Lotus has been performing, you really have to believe that it's just a matter of time before either Kimi or Grosjean gets a victory. I mean, Lotus is now leading McLaren in the WCC! Other than some bad luck, Lotus has done a really good job with what they have (imagine their budget versus that of McLaren or Ferrari). And McLaren has used one of the biggest budgets in all of sports and managed to perform like a backmarker IRL team that's never been to a race before. They had a real chassis advantage to open the season and now they've completely wasted that advantage. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory... Great job, guys!

But yeah, I'd love to see Kimi get one. Even if he has to beat Lewis to do it. Given how pathetic Lewis, Button and all of McLaren have been this season, I could deal with that.
