Firefox 2.0 - Damn it's fast

BNF

Ex-SuperMod
I waited my normally waiting time of one week after a new release and got Firefox 2.0 today.

DAMN IS IT FAST.

My build, which is a special build/version for my processor (Mac G5) ( Premium Link Upgrade , must be 30% faster than 1.5.0.4 that I ran for the past few months.

All of my pug-ins and extensions migrated no problem.

If you haven't checked it out - do so. Premium Link Upgrade
(Mac users check out the "custom tuned" processor versions above.)

firefox is much better than ie or any of that other crap. but the more people use firefox, the more the spyware people will try to break its security. for those who havent tried it, i recommend giving it a shot. unless u like spyware.

Firefox is great. It has a built-in pop up blocker and allows me to have tabs in my browser. I would use Firefox over Internet Explorer any day.

Couldn't agree more. Firefox is vastly superior in so many ways. Thanks for the heads-up, BNF!

sorry to burst your bubble bnf, but it is not faster. its the same speed as my old firefox. the only two things so far that i see differant are there is now an auto spell check and my browser themes are not compatible to the version 2.0. but other than that, i will use 2.0. i just have to find a new theme. :D

My bubble is intact. ;) I am flying with this build. It's like when one of my ISPs gives a speed bump....

Yeah, the themes. I used the standard, mostly because I couldn't find the time to look for an alternative. Same as right now...

I'm sticking with Opera. Always leaves a smaller memory footprint, almost never crashes like Mozilla.. F-fox, SeaMonkey and the like.. and IE isnt even an option. As far as safety, Opera's still on top. And I sincerely hope you guys keep using FireFox, as I'm with Squallumz on the popular = more hackworthy.

I'm using IE 7 Beta. It's fast, has all the tabbed stuff Firefox users like, integrates with MS Office (which most of the world uses) and has a very tight security setup already in place. Of course, it'll get hacked and they'll end up sending out updates, but it's got all the benefits of a quality Microsoft product with the features of the wannabes.

Microsoft: we have the power to take your ideas, blend them with yours, and then **** your company's business or buy you. LOL

firefox 2.0 is a definetely "must download"!!!
I updated my version to 2.0 just yesterday and the differences are obvious!
great job from the Mozilla team!!!
If I'm not wrong more than 2 million users have already downloaded Firefox!

I guess IE7 want be able to take the lead from FireFox!

HaHa...I love your statement squallumz.

Spyware is all over the net, especially on adult sites as they are the most viewed on the net. It doesn't matter which internet browser system your using you'll still get them. Even downloading a picture to look at is a risk, as the spyware is connected to the pictures coding. It does suddenly go 'hey he's using firefox, not IE I can't plant myself into his system'. It's your firewalls that protect you from spyware, not your browser. It does have slightly better functions to it like a built in pop-up stopper and a download aid. But these aren't what you call protection from spyware or a virus. I've been on the net for 9 years now and to be honest it was only early on that I thought any security my browser an IP gave me would be enough protection. That was till I hit my first problems 5 months on from my first day. So if you think that either your fairly new to the net or just been extremely lucky.

I've been using firefox for sometime now, but still check on IE as I have a email address that won't work with firefox for some reason. IE is fast improving and has caught up a lot with firefox. But is still a little behind. But I'd still wouldn't change back if truth be known.

I notice you said quality. Either you work for Microsoft or are talking about the wrong product! :jester:

I'm not seeing any great speed improvement over I.E. 6 with Firefox.

I also moved on opera for all porn related surfing.
It never crashed even with 40 tabs filled of vids and pics :)

I keep using firefox for my work and usual surf, but didn't tryed the v2. Like BNF, I was waiting some weeks (to avoid major bugs and keep all my plugins), now I think I'm convinced to move on it

I'm running a very unscientific test between Firefox 2.0 and I.E. 7 right now on this page with Ad-aware in the background. I have to say the pages seem to scroll faster and smoother with Firefox.
