Extinct People

LukeEl

I am a failure to the Korean side of my ******
Anyone know of any group or ethnic group of people that are no longer...whether they were wiped out by war, famine, or disease? Or if they intermarried with other groups or tribes...The only two I can think of are the Cartheginians and Phonecians.

Some anthropologist and geneticists think that Cro Magnon's committed both genocide and mass **** against Neanderthals and we are a product of that. Look up "Aborigine skulls".

Egypt is another example. Some think that pre-Ptolemaic Egyptians were Negroid-Caucasoid hybrids that was later mixed with Semitic, Greeks, Roman and Arab genes. So King Tut probably looked like Haile Selassie, not Gamal Abdel Nasser

I'm sure there are quite a few. But I'll mention the Etruscans. They once ruled what later became the all powerful Roman Republic/Empire. And the virtual disappearance of Etruscan culture still baffles scholars. Many assume that, like the Carthaginians, they were mostly assimilated into more dominant cultures.

Very interesting question! And and a good thread.

I thought of the Mayans, but there are people who are descendents of them still.

Decent politicians (Clement Attlee).

Seriously though, there used to be way more sub-ethnicities in china than there are now; many simply bred themselves out of existence inter-marrying with han chinese.

got any pics?

most peoples don't become extinct, they just mix with other peoples.
peoples, what a funny word.

as far as modern humans having neanderthal in the mix, i thought that has yet to be proven.
its possible i guess
to me its extremely interesting.
all the different types of humans or homos in europe over the years.then by 25,000 years ago, which is really not that long ago, they are all gone.
so where the hell did we come from?
its amazing that nobody really knows for sure.

Incas and Aztecs.

Here in AZ we had a large population of indians called the Anasazi. They an extensive set of canals and farmland near central Phoenix. 900 years ago they just disappeared and noone has figured out why.
