I remember in high school that they had a assembly for all the girls, in which some woman's right's group representative or something among those lines came and talked to everyone there. I later asked one of my friends that was a girl how it had been, and she said it was somewhat enlightening. She told me that the main point in a girl defending herself is the word "no", which to me makes a lot of sense. No one can make you (technically) do anything you want to when you say "no", but it seems that Erin Moore either didn't or wouldn't, when that may have helped her some in whatever situation she might have found herself in. If you find yourself in with the wrong type of crowd or situation, whose responsibility is it to either extricate yourself completely or find a way to make the best of it? Yours, and yours alone, nobody is going do it for you.

I can sympathize with everything that she says that she dealt with, but as many people have noted before me, I detect a distinct lack of responsibility on her part. Nobody forced you to take those drugs, to stay with an abusive partner, to continue working even though you were pregnant, you were ultimately the one who decided to undertake each and every one of those actions, even if it seemed otherwise. The sooner you can admit your part in those, the sooner you can come to terms with yourself.

I feel like some people forget the difference between coercion and absolute force sometimes. This seems like a case in point.

It's been a long time since I last posted in this topic but I thought I should give another opinion here. Drugs are a major problem in the porn industry but the same thing goes for the movie industry, the TV industry, the music industry, well every industry as a drug problem. The way I see it about porn stars who become born again christians is that they leave one industry which makes billions every year (porn) for the industry that is the world's largest that makes billions everyday (religion). Also another fact is that born again christians are the biggest bullshitters on the planet.

Mariahxxx I admire you for what you said here and that you did overcome your drug problem so a huge thumbs up to you. One of the sad things about Erin's case is that she was taken advantage of by religious groups, I did a thread about why porn stars convert to religion after a certain point and how they got there.

Of course I have found out about other tactics that the religious anti-porn groups use since then but thankfully only a minority of people in the porn industry who did have problems convert to religion while the others did get help from non-religious help groups. I think there should be help groups/ organisations that are pro-sex/pro-porn who will help pornstars to overcome any problems they may have and provide the non-religious alternatives in over coming them, the fact is help groups that are ran by religious organisations always seem to say that religion is the only way for people to overcome their problems when the reality is there is always more then one way to overcome your problems and you don't need religion or any other belief for that matter to overcome it.

The porn company that owns the Ruth Blackwell website along with the others they have in their network seems to be extremely racist and also racial supremacists. It's been proven that if women have sex while they are pregnant it does no harm to the baby what so ever. There is loads of sexual fetishes and types of porn I personally don't like but to me as long as it's legal, consensual and safe then I have no problem with it and I stay away from those types of pron sites even if one of my favourite pornstars do those. Very good post (and rep to follow). In the same way that Erin/Ruth had a choice, viewers of porn also have a choice. People really need to come to grips with that, IMO. If you don't like something, don't watch it. If you don't approve of a certain fetish site, don't visit it.

Not long after I got here last year, there was a debate about what was "legal" porn and what was not... what was "obscene" and what was not. There are federal obscenity laws, but most of the prosecutions in porn (related to federal statutes) have to do with child and bestiality porn, as well as interstate transportation of said material. Cases like that of Max Hardcore/Paul Little usually rely on "community standards violations". People often refer to the Cambria List. But the Cambria List was just suggestions drafted by a porn industry lawyer, and it has nothing to do with whether or not a DA can or will file charges against you. Outside of kiddie and animal situations, there is no universal definition of obscenity that I know of. In fact, our own Mariah is perfectly safe doing porn where she does it (I would say). But if she were to come to the area where I live (lot of Evangelical types here) and made the tamest porn movie she's ever made, she'd probably be arrested, jailed and tried for violating the community standards, "by engaging in sexual conduct that lacked serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value and which appealed to the prurient interest."

So all that to say, I'm not judging Erin/Ruth based on the type of porn that she did. Depending on your community, any or all of it could be considered "obscene".
