You know, moderate Muslims really need to organize. Having assholes like this as their spokespeople and face to the rest of the world... not really doing them any favors.

It was my understanding that for Obama, Sarkozy and Cameron these were the moderated muslims. Am i missing something here? As i said in a different thread, the war to Lybia and the support of the arabic spring has been the biggest mistake of the last 30 years. You'll see how much we'll pay for this very soon, with radical muslims brought into power by Europe doors.
The mistake was being too hands-off in the name of diplomacy; directly finding and supporting the secular or moderate factions in each of the revolutionary movements may have hurt Russia's feelings (oh noeski) but would be better off in the long run.
That's the conundrum; the muslim brotherhood was democratically elected.
Same with Hamas in Gaza.

I don't think anyone really thought these guys were going to bring in a new age of enlightenment. I think the best that was hoped for was less outright animosity. History has proven that outside forces playing kingmaker in the Middle East goes over about as well as a sandpaper g-string. The general idea of supporting the Arab Spring (which mostly was supported passively, not actively) was that it could possibly be seen as a diplomatic coup. Ultimately though there was never going to be any way to "win" in the Middle East. There probably won't be until long after everyone here is dead and dust.
While moderates exist, they're unorganized and more often than not instead of looking to fix the problem... they emigrate to avoid persecution by the extremists and fundamentalists.
The West has let millions of people get massacred in Rwanda, Sudan, Cambodia, and some others. They did something that make the situation better or worse in the long run, but at least acted during this crisis.
Plus, if you gave women rights, they might get to choose their own sexual partners...

Mayhem are an isolationist. The international community cannot let genocide happen in the modern world. They've the military and financial muscle to stop genocides from countries like Rwanda, Sudan, and Cambodia.

NeoCon =/= Conservative. While there are definitely black Conservatives the NeoCons are a specific old boys club dating back to the Nixon days composed almost entirely of old, white, Jewish men.
