Egypt warns giving women some rights could destroy society

Actually Sudan has quite a bit of oil and Rwanda has gold, coltan and other mining resources.
Sudan covers what I said at the end of my post "or the reigning party provides this". Rwanda, according to National Geographic's website, makes 98 million U.S. dollars in mining. Which for that area is very good, but I'm not sure if they would be considered a major mining resource, especially for Coltan.

Was it Sam or is it Will who use(de) to say that women should stay at home, to clean it up, do the laundr, the cooking and change the kid's diapers ?

Seems that they agree with the Muslim Brotherhood about women...

It was my understanding that for Obama, Sarkozy and Cameron these were the moderated muslims. Am i missing something here? As i said in a different thread, the war to Lybia and the support of the arabic spring has been the biggest mistake of the last 30 years. You'll see how much we'll pay for this very soon, with radical muslims brought into power by Europe doors.
And France and England are going to do the same mistake again by delivering arms to the rebels in Syria, even thought many of the rebels are salafists :brick:

Foreign Affairs Analyst predicted for years that the Egyptian public would elect an Islamic government after the fall of the Mubarak regime. Mubarak would have used the Egyptian military to put down the revolution. The United States was the only country that leverage with the Egyptian military: the Camp David Accords have supplied the Egyptian military with state of the art U. S. weapons for well over 30 years. The Egyptian military dumped Mubarak so it could keep its deal with the U. S.

Tunisia and Libya have yet to create new constitutions so we'll wait and see what happens in both of those countries.

Syria: A pretty strong islamist element is going be in most muslim countries since Saudi Arabia has been spreading wahhabism around the globe for decades. This Syrian government has been an enemy of the West for decades. A salafist Syrian government would not be allies with Hezbollah.

The Syrian uprising is largely Muslim. there are non-Muslims involved, and Assad is a fucking asshole, but Syria will likely end up looking like Egypt whenever he falls. Whther it will be extremists Muslims or more liberal/centrist Muslims, no one knows.

As far as Tunisia, haven't you been paying attention the last two weeks?

I'm betting the West thinks it can deal with even a salafist Syrian regime, unlike the Al-Assad regime.

The new Tunisian constitution will be the barometer of Women's Rights in that country.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?

Exactly! We armed our own enemy!

All this is done for the purpose of stripping Iran of military allies. It's creating a long-term problem for a short term bet. Students of foreign policy will tell me that the only thing we can do in this world is make short term bets, because accurate long term decisions are impossible without clairvoyance, but even this short term bet is based on the assumption that Syria would jump into a war with Israel or would be a significant help to Iran. Isn't that unlikely given the overwhelming military capabilities of the U.S. versus the Assad regime?
