Dyson Air Multiplier "Bladeless" Fan

Has anyone else seen these things? Does anyone own one or know someone who does? They range in price from $299.99-$449.99. I am intruiged by them but am really hesitant to spend that much money on a fucking fan! At Petco Park in San Diego, they have the Dyson Airblade hand dryer, which is really badass (as badass as hand dryers can be, I suppose) but how much better could these fans be than my $25 WalMart "conventional" fan? What do you guys think? $300 seems a bit steep for a fan that gets rid of, as they put it: "unpleasant buffeting." (As a side note, I've experienced some unpleasant buffeting in my day; mainly at my local Souplantation, but that's a different story.)

Dyson Air Multiplier™ fans work differently from conventional fans. They use Air Multiplier™ technology to draw in air and amplify it – from 15 to 18 times, depending on the model. With no blades or grille, they’re safe and easy to clean. And they produce an uninterrupted stream of smooth air, with no unpleasant buffeting.

Here's 1 informative video, and 1 interesting video about the fan I found on the YouTube:

It's still a recession...save your money, go to Walmart and buy that awesome ass cheap fan! Unless, you're rich I couldn't see myself or anyone spending that much on a fucking fan! Plus it looks like a fuckin tennis racket with no net...just plain ridiculous!

Buffeting isn't a major issue with me. The fans themselves are pretty cool, not for that kind of money though.

Seen it a Target - too expensive to even consider buying one.

A fly swatter works great though.

I've heard that they really don't perform that great,or at least not $300 worth.

I don't really understand what this does better than a regular fan. I didn't think "buffeting" was that much of a problem. It's like they researched and developed something that wasn't broke for 99.9% of the applications it's used for, didn't really improve on the basic concept of what they are trying to replace, and then are trying to sell it at a price only a fool would pay for because it looks cool or works in a new way.

I think that the Dyson air multiplier belongs in the Sharper Image catalog . .
I know, I know, the Sharper Image tumbled with the economy, too many gimmicks.

It needs more sound. I can't sleep if it doesn't make white noise.

I too hated living in an apartment where the guy upstairs always seemed to be violently schtoopin his gf when I was trying to sleep . . . :ak47:

Well, take that asshole ! I'll rattle the filings outta your teeth with my white noise Dayton Tower Fan, (bent blades and harmonic imbalances built in) you asshole!

Really, I do have a ''smaller" version of fan  I think it's a 36 incher, and it IS a Dayton! :hatsoff: People would be dead if it weren't for that fan.

If that bladeless fan was so great, jet engines would be made w/out intake fans. . . jerks! :nono:
Hail to the fan! The thrust from this thing tumbles 400lb chunks of concrete like balls of cotton. :D

Snake OIL I say!

Cool concept, give it a few years to become reasonable in price.

Theyre a bit pricy...£200 in the shops over here...the only place theyd look good would be a modern swanky flat too lol

At least you can stick your head in them to cool down a bit though :D

Slightly? What I meant to say is the product (the fan) will be discontinued.

You can't really expect to pay a cheap price for a piece of technology like that straight off. When you buy a Dyson product, you know you are getting state-of-the-art, and I would expect to pay accordingly.
