So if you didn't believe in God, you'd quite happily rape and murder?

I didn't say that.

On the other hand, there would be nothing to stop me.

Actually you mean, if there wasn't a God. ;)

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
Nope. Bring it on! Much bigger things to worry about. You could be driving down the street tomorrow and get t-boned by a drunk driver.
If I knew I had some kind of terminal cancer, why prolong your life an extra month or so. I'll grab my rifle and pack and take the long walk into the Alaskan Wilderness.

My lack of a god or anything as such has never forced me to strap a bomb on my body; kill, destroy or die in the name of a false prophet, nor invade a group of people who do not believe in the same false prophet I believe in.
Religion might bring people together - but it only brings together those of a like mindset (and, usually, of similar nationalities and races). It works, but only to a limit, and those limits are becoming greater as society evolves.

What about your own morality?!?

For example, what stops me & countless other secular people from committing criminal acts etc?

You're afraid of your politicians, police, and so on.

Well now, that says a lot about our boy Willy doesn't it.....

:nono: Taken out of context.

There's nothing to stop me but God.
Without God humans are totally depraved.

Don't make me start preaching. ;)

No, I'm not afraid of politicians, police, and so on.

& humans are quite clearly not totally depraved without god as any secular society cleary demonstrates & humans have done some totally depraved things in the name of god.
& most people do not follow laws because of fear, its not correct to apply your fear driven lifestyle to others.
:hatsoff:

I'm not afraid of death as much as I'm afraid of dying alone without a significant other or a family to love.

There is, there is our own humanity & belief in right & wrong.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but why do you think that then? Why do you believe in a "right" and a "wrong" or good and evil? A belief in those things would have to come from something to be logical, from somebody that's non-religious anyway. Believing in concepts and universal truths like that doesn't seem that much different than believing in a religion except believers in a religion know why they do.

At times.... like for instance earlier a couple weeks ago when this idiot bus driver nearly took me out... yeah, that woulda hurt for an instant at least. I guess it's more the pain and the unknown which can be at times over-whelming.

Carry on.... :D

[ . . if people didn't at least fear the other side, the world would be a lot more evil . .]

As it pertains to our daily living, I remember my papa saying something to the effect of "I'm not taking any chances". :hatsoff:

I'm not afraid of death as much as I'm afraid of dying alone without a significant other or a family to love.

I both hear and read about people with this sentiment and for the life of me I don't understand it.
What's the big deal with dying alone ? :dunno:

No.
I am of the belief that if you accept the fact your going to die, the more you can go about enjoying your life.

I don't fear Death.
I Fear getting old. Too old.
Ending my life lyng in an hospital bed, plugged to machine to make my heart beat, my lungs breathe, to feed me, etc...
