yes I was arrested for assaulting a fan who approached me in a hotel parking lot at 3am he was pushy and weird and aggressive and got in my space so I hit him in the throat and swept his legs. The bellman saw it and called 911. I was arrested and released without charges filed that was in 2009

It is great that no one got shot.

Well, a drunken fan can behave unexpectedly and I think that he also regrets this event.

First of all, that dump was the after party for the night moves awards. We were in a shuttle that brought us back to the hotel which was the Marriott on Westshore so not a dump at all. I had gone to my car to change my shoes and he followed me and my friend Savannah. He asked for an autograph which I gave him. He asked to take a photo which I very nicely declined. I had been drinking and it had been a long night and I wasn't comfortable with the developing situation. You could see was a little off. So I told him to email me and I'd send him a signed pic and I handed him a card. He kept asking for the photo. Then he asked for a hug and kept getting closer. I told him to back the fuck up and he wouldn't. He said he had been waiting there all night so he obviously knew my car which means he had followed me there. he was very lucky I didn't have my gun with me or he'd be dead right now.

You're lucky you didn't have your gun....because what he did is not enough cause to use deadly force...and you would likely have spent far more then 2 hours in jail.

I seriously don't say this to many people...but you might have more temper, then a gun owner should have.

I won't let someone drink a single beer in my presence even if we're just going target shooting - and if we're going hunting, forget about it! Alcohol or drugs (prescription/legal or not) and firearms do not mix. :nono:

Just going off what she said ("I had been drinking..."), I'd suggest that Mariah bone up on Title XLVI of the Florida statute, concerning firearms possession in public while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances. By the way it reads, it's very similar to the statute in my state. Just having a firearm in your possession while under the influence can get you arrested. Actually shooting someone while under the influence will likely mean an arrest, a blood or urine test to see just how impaired you are and then the chance to see how a grand jury might change your life forever.

I have no issue with actual, necessary self-defense (though I believe too many people want to reach for a gun these days when there are other ways of handling a situation). Just like I have no issue with someone having a drink. But when you decide to take a drink, you may be putting other people in danger by being armed - and that I'm not OK with.
