Ok after much thought I have decided my passion is this-erotica, the adult industy. I love it as art, for the beauty of the girls,the joy it brings. I want a career involved in it, in some capacity.

I cant be a 'star'-dont have a 6 pack etc, but as a photographer, stage hand, in the marketing side...something.

I have considerable human capital [2 degrees] and work experience in the highest institutions, I would be valuable manpower.

Can Freeones help out? Any contacts etc?

Based on many porn movies I've seen, you don't have to be handsome or have a 6 pack. Looks like the requirements are that you are STD free, you aren't flaky and that you can get an erection during a shoot

The adult industry is a pretty tight knit community. It is just as hard to be hired as male talent as it is to get hired as a photographer or stage hand. What experience do you have as a photographer, stage hand or marketing?

Considering that the porn industry is doing even worse than the general economy and doesn't look like it's going to turn itself around any time soon, and the fact that the behind the scene stuff in porn usually has a mentality that would make the stuff that goes on in wrestling look professional by comparison I wouldn't get my hopes up. Porn is also very clique or sub-culture orientated and a lot of it is just who you know, who your friends with, or who owes you something. I could also point out that porn has more douche bags in it by percentage than probably any other legal profession in the civilized industrial Western World. Not to rain on your passion or what you want to do with your life but if you do somewhat make it in I wouldn't envy you.

Some of the first big sites to switch over to an internet based distribution system, like Brazzers, might be ok for now or at least doing better than other people (although I've also heard some nefarious things about them also.) Almost everybody in it is making much less than years ago and a lot of them are even struggling to stay afloat. The women in it aren't making as much as in the past either. I've heard shocking amounts about how low the rates are that some relatively big name people are taking for jobs now.

As far as things being shady, both business wise and behind the scenes, I stand by my comments. There is too much stuff that has come out to even begin denying it. While there might be some people, companies, or niches where it's relatively good on the whole it's pretty bad. As far as businesswise it's even worse than that. A great many porners would kick their own mother to the ground if they though they could make an extra dollar off of it. Backstabbing in the industry and looking out for yourself above the interest of the industry is par for the course, and while there is scum in pretty much any job or industry a person might get into, there are more losers, slimebags, users, cheats, flakes, druggies, cold hearted ruthlessness, exploiters, people that have a vendetta against somebody else in the industry, unethical people, or people that are nihilistic or borderline sociopaths than in pretty much any industry I can think of short of hardcore drug dealing.

Have you had any kind of contact with webmasters in porn? I have, and many of them have been scum that will try to rip people off any way they can just so they can make a few extra bucks. They might treat the models differently than they treat everyone else but i doubt it.

Parts of the adult industry has been hit hard, not all of the industry. A lot of the ladies running their own sites are still doing well and I know a lot of web cam girls are still doing very well. I personally have not taken a hit financially, so maybe I am just lucky. You can never group all of adult together because there are so many different branches of it. I think some of the larger companies and performers have taken a hit financially. The rates for XXX was bound to change at some point. There has been talk for years that performers were paid to much. I heard talk that a union may be starting up soon.


I never said there were no shady things in adult. There are some shady characters and companies. The numbers are very small if you consider how many people actually work in the adult industry. Shady people are usually called out and everyone knows not to work with them. It honestly is no where as bad as you are trying to make it out to be.
