Me personally, I've never had a man pay my bills. I've never dated a guy that made more money than I. I've never had anyone pay off any of my debts. I work hard for everything I have. I have never asked for someone to buy me dinner or drinks, esp someone I don't know. If someone offers, sometimes I will take it (although I don't take drinks from strangers anymore, I learned that lesson the hard way when I got roofied at the xbiz awards)

If you're dissatisfied with the quality of women you are hanging out with, perhaps you should hang out with a different group or class of women! It's easy to hang out with the lowest common denominator of people then recognize that they suck.. but don't generalize ALL of us women because of it.

Sorry if I gave the impression I believe all Americans to be this way. I was merely asking if they were since often the media implies they are. As I've stated in this thread before, I've not lived in the US since 1992 so I can't really speak for Americans, no. I've met many, even shared apartments with some, but I don't think that really applies.

I don't judge you for doing porn, I dated a porn actress once and I knew it was a job. Furthermore, I had an insignificant role in a couple of gangbang movies as an extra cock and got paid a little for it so technically I'm just as "cheap" as you. I truly respect your view towards this matter of men buying women things, you seem to be a strong intended person, I like that.

I'm not here to defend Juryduty. But to be fair, he and I conversed in another thread where he was asking about cable TV and internet rates and speeds in the U.S. He asked if it was true that we paid $300/month for TV service. On average, we do not. But are there examples of people who pay that much once you count pay-per-view, sports packages and bundled services? Sure there are. I have a mid-level package from DirecTV with HD and TiVo service - no movie channels, no sports packages, no pay-per-view. If I added those things and considered what my bundled ISP package costs, I would likely be in the $300/month range. IMO, it's much the same here with this question. While his wording may have been less than ideal (or offensive to some), there are examples of women who are attracted to men mainly because of what they'll do for them monetarily. I know that (for a fact) and so do most of the people here. But the problem is taking those examples, and watching what and how Americans are presented on TV and in the movies, and thinking they represent the rule, when they're most likely exceptions. How big of an exception those women represent, I have absolutely no idea. But I still (like to) believe they represent the exception and not the rule.

But women (and men) who are making their own way, and don't think like that and believe that's not the right way to live, are probably offended by the actions of those women and I guess by suggestions that they represent the majority of women in America. No one wants to be connected to a parasite just because they share a gender (a race or a religion). So I think I can see both sides. It's hard to read people's (true) motivations on the internet. And I'm sure I've been as guilty as anyone else, but I'm trying to do a better job of entertaining questions about the society I live in, especially when they come from people who really know very little about the U.S. On another board, I tried to ask an Israeli about some things about his society. But once he learned (from another thread there) that I was opposed to Zionism, he began calling me a Nazi and an anti-Semite and a Hitler lover and just all manner of things. He went full defensive/offensive because he tried to read me based on other beliefs that I have. I've never had an issue with Jews or anybody else - I try to hate everyone equally. But needless to say, our discussion stopped at that point. And his reaction certainly didn't raise my opinion of Israelis. Anyway, I just think that boards like this are more interesting when people can freely converse, even if the question is not worded in the best way or is on a delicate subject. Whatever... :dunno:

This is kind of off topic, but in regard to the $300/mth issue you mentioned for TV, many people do pay that much, and it depends on where you live and what service you have. I have a Time Warner package with HBO, Starz, Cinemax, and one other movie channel, plus we have our internet and landline phones, which accumulates to about $200/mth. I think it's like $210 or something. Oh, and DVR on one cable box for our roommate. So it does get pretty pricey depending on what you have, and we got it cheaper with having the internet and phone lines on the package. I believe it's called the Triple Play package.

However, I'd wager that most people don't pay nearly that much since they don't want all those features, or rather don't want to pay for them. Plus services like Netflix, Hulu, RedBox, and other providers are of increasing popularity, and lots of people are opting for minimal to no cable, and going for just those products for their entertainment.

Because it's America. Everything is more expensive here. If I went to China with the amount of money I have right now, which is very little, I'd be considered rich. But over here, if I were living alone and trying to pay bills, I'd be considered to be at the poverty level. We can demand all we want, but people are still buying it at the price it is, so they see no reason to change it. Why would they lower their prices if they're successful with higher prices? That's their logic. If people want it, people will buy it. Internet and cable are widespread across just about every household in America, and there's not enough options for us to choose from, so we're forced to buy whatever is offered. If I needed a heart transplant, only had $100 to my name, and would die in 3 weeks if I didn't get it, and it would cost $500,000 (theoretically speaking, as I don't know what the actual cost is, though I assume it's hundreds of thousands), am I going to say no just because I can't afford it? No. I'm going to get it, because I need and want it, and I'll be stuck with the bill for the rest of my life. That's just the way it is.

But, most things like food, TV's, computers, cars, gas is MUCH cheaper in America than they are in Europe, it's only really just the internet services where they screw you guys. Is there no way to get JUST internet without all the TV packages? I figure if you could do that, then you could just download the rest. IT only really affects people who want to watch sports LIVE, otherwise you can just download it all once it is over from any number of sites, for free.

The USA limits the competition for these services. Cable and telecom are the only providers. If I want cable in my area it only comes from Cablevision. Time-Warner, Comcast, Cox, and others are not available so there is no competition for their services or packages. Well, not relay. The telecom competes but again I only have one choice, Verizon. Dish doesn't offer phone and Direct TV has limited and shitty phone services. That's it. My choices are limited to the utility companies which monopolize the areas they provide to.

Euro fiber optic networks share the network infrastructure with other providers. Here you folks have competition for services and the one that built the network collects leasing fees from these competing companies. Until the early 80's, Bell Telephone controlled all of the telecommunication service in USA right down to your phone. That's right, every phone in every home was built by Bell. They didn't want you to buy it either, they had you rent it. The divestiture of Bell began the emergence competitive long distance.
