Can most American women be bought?

How much USA dating experience could a 21yo possibly have just by having traveled here. Gentlemanly acts are very common and welcomed here. People your age may think it's corny but let me tell you something, it's never a deal breaker. By the same token, at 21, you may not even have a grasp on your own dating culture or what women are like.
Get off your high horse, grandpa. At least i'm honest enough to state my age openly (and i dont bitch about other people's cultures that they know nothing about).

I hold doors open for women, men and everybody for that matter. I just try to be nice all around. I don't think it should separated by genders.

Okay, I'm not looking to jump on you but I'd like to make a distinction. We open doors for ladies and let them pass first. When 2 guys approach a door, 1 enters and doesn't let it slam before the second man comes through. This is not rude to the guy, we just don't open doors for other men. When a woman pulls out a cigarette, the man reaches for a light and lights it for her. When another man reaches for a cigarette, we reach for a light and hand it to him. A man never lights another man's cigarette. We don't tell the same jokes in mixed company. We don't use foul language as much as when ladies are present. We separate women from men in these sort of ways and it's not a bad thing. Does any of this sink in?

I don't smoke so I can't speak for that part, but I hold doors open for anybody. Most people do that in the UK. Often doors have springs in them that close the door behind you so if you don't hold it open the other person has to deal with it. Also, often people have their hands full so it's polite to keep the door open for them. In America is that seen as gay or something?

The women I know in the UK, Holland, Denmark and Sweden make just as many dirty jokes as guys do. Hell I tend to watch porn with women, makes it more fun to have someone else play with my junk for while watching a good Stoya scene :D

I think we are coming to an understanding here. USA has many sexual hang-ups as a culture and I don't think we will ever get over it. I worked at a place where a mechanic had a few pictures of women taped to the inside lid of his tool box. The pics were of women dressed and posed in a provocative way. The company made him take them down. What was the content of these pics? Perfume magazine advertisements. Perfume that was being blended and bottled in the very factory he was working for!

Holding a door open for a dude with packages is an absolute courtesy but lighting another man's cigarette is definitely gay.

I think it's a valid question. At least where I live, the women are very interested in money and physical attractiveness. You would be hard up to find one who actually values your personality over the aforementioned qualities.

Although in the context of money, I don't think it's necessarily "gold digging" or that they care about how much money you have in your bank account. If a woman would rather live in a nice house and fly first class as opposed to living in a 300 sq ft apartment while her husband works at Burger King and barely has money to eat, I wouldn't fault her.

The women there don't have jobs of their own there?

I believe if you want a better life, go out and get it yourself, don't expect others to do it for you.

For the guys who start out flipping burgers, making minimum wage, and then rise to become owners and operators of Burger King and McDonald's restaurants, making millions per year:

About 33 years ago, Rob Goodwin started flipping burgers for $2.35 an hour at the East Ridge McDonald’s.

Today, he runs that $2.5 million a year business.

I wonder how many girls passed ol' Rob over when he was barely getting by and are now kicking themselves in the ass?

If a girl is shallow enough that she'll jump for the guy (only) because he has the nice house and can buy first class airline tickets, he may be just as shallow as the girl. So once she ages or gains weight, he may decide that he wants something young, slim, fresh and pretty sitting beside him in first class. The young trophy wife is the natural enemy of every aging gold-digger. But that's the route they chose, so I don't feel the least bit sorry for them (I do feel sorry for the ones who weren't leeches though).

There's nothing wrong with ambition. But choosing someone just because of what they can "give" you is not ambition. That is being a gold-digger. And a nice house might just mean a big mortgage. A nice car might just mean a big car payment. A first class tickets might just mean a big Mastercard bill.

Bonus question: what is the number one cause of divorce in the United States? Finances!

I call it golddinging/materialism. Many people here call it romance.

Rattrap

Doesn't feed trolls and would appreciate it if you
I don't know if it is that way in London or Oxford though as I only have experience in the shittier parts of the UK like Cardiff...
All right, taking a certain definition of 'shitty' that I think you're going for, I'll take that...
Manchester...
Check.
Newcastle...
Check.
Hereford...
:wtf: Hereford is lovely!

That aside, virtually everything said here has only increased my desire to get my ass in Scandinavia. I'm getting closer and closer (border country now!)...

Don't bother, Scandinavian women might actually like making amateur porn with you, having 3somes or watching porn with you. They might like talking about video games or Sci Fi and they won't let you spend your money on them. It's all so very unromantic. Go to Russia, I'm sure you can get some very romantic women there for a good price.

Agreed! but most people don't feel that way. I don't really judge others, if a girl wants to be a gold digger and a guy wants to date a gold digger, then so be it.

Women in America are very pressed to provide for themselves and their families. The days of women being stay at home moms are over. Now it's not uncommon for either the man or the woman to be the bread winner. And women take up 57% of college enrollment and 60% of bachelors degrees, with the numbers increasing every year, which goes to show that women are striving to be successful and reach their goals. That being said, most women are not gold diggers.

A look at some people statistics might open your eyes to some cultural differences. Marriage rate, size of households, and birth rates puts USA much higher than Scandinavia. Average age of marriages are 6 years younger. With that we do more family building Scandinavians. That justifies our courtship habits. I won't try looking into the minds of you folks but I can give you an idea why we do that. We are a nation of immigrants. People that come to build a new life. They started small with the intention to grow enough to bring other family here. Grow the family and pass down to the children.

To be honest, I think a lot of my frustration comes from my parents being old fashioned. The woman I'm presently seeing won't let me pay for anything she does and my folks found out about that. They told me that I wasn't being a man because I let her pay her own way on things. IT reminded me of those dating articles I read 5 years ago and things I saw in American movies plus a lot of spoiled Americans I knew when I was a lot younger. Truth be told, I've met more Mexicans with the gold-digger attitude than Americans.

This does not jive with this...

In Scandinavia where I've spent the most of the last 7 years at, I find that women are extremely pro-feminist. They often take offense to men trying to buy them drinks and shit. They also tend not to care for big diamond rings and other such superficial nonsenese that has no real value. Of course, there are exceptions, but of the many women I've dated there, independence was more their thing.

When I watch American TV though, or when I'm in the UK, I find that women are far more shallow. You can impress most women who are not university educated, with bling and money. I don't know if it is that way in London or Oxford though as I only have experience in the shittier parts of the UK like Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Hereford, etc. Is it the same way in America?

What I find most amusing is when women want equal rights and pay yet expect everything to be done an paid for them. You can't have it both ways.

When you start talking about how you perceive American women as shallow gold diggers and how it's laughable they want equal rights and men to pay for things, you can't then write off your tirade as being fallout from your girlfriend not letting you pay for things, and you being embarrassed over it because your parents think you've been emasculated.

It's inconsistent. To be frank, this smacks of you trolling then deciding to rethink that when OCSMs started taking issue and you maybe didn't want to offend them with your misogyny.
