There are more then a few active female adult performers that don't promote their work on there twitter page. If I was in the adult business I probably wouldn't use my social media pages to promote my work since there are no royalties in porn and each performer more or less gets paid the same flat rate depending on what type of scene it is. So yeah promoting your work is kinda pointless since it doesn't really lead to higher earnings. Just like singing with a agency or having a manger doesn't make much sense in the adult business because the income potential doesn't justify either one.

Good for branding though. More views your scenes get, the more likely you are to get rehired and possibly at a higher rate.

Nope since adult performers aren't unionized they pretty much all get paid the same flat rate per scene regardless of how popular or unpopular they are. Female performer just get paid slightly more or less depending on what sexual act is in a scene. The best way to earn more money is to produce and star in your on scenes ASAP.
Agreed. And from what I've seen, directors appreciate when the girls publicize the scenes on social media and have said they're more likely to rehire girls who do so.
And about residuals, yeah the girls don't get those. So to make up for it most do camshows and/or sell individual clips, and/or develop their own sites with their own content.
But once they realize they can make more money camming, selling their own content on manyvids or other clip sites or having their own site they are pretty much done with shooting for porn studios.
Directors aren't in charge of hiring just like with regular acting casting is up to someone else besides the director.
