Probably done for some legal reasons, close it down and dump all it's staff before they get further investigated and sued for millions. The longer the paper stays around the more dirt will be uncovered which will continue to tarnish News Corp, Murdoch couldn't have that as he seeks govt approval for his BSkyB takeover bid. Also running The Sun 7 days will save on running costs and was already being considered.
