His resignation does not keep him from testifying if he is compelled to do so. If they subpoena him, he has to testify.

Petraeus is due to be questioned later this week or the next. Perhaps he resigned in order to come clean concerning Benghazi. The timing of his departure just seems a bit more than coincidence.

Very interesting timing indeed. My conspiracy theory is that he knew and told them of the threat and the White House was going to throw him under the bus before he testifies. Let's see what he has to say.

Oh, and he will testify if congress wants him to. It may not be this coming week but this is the US congress. They can change their minds and have military at his door in minutes to personally escort him there.
