Border Wall

The vast majority of GOP senate seats up for re-election are in red states. And Femocrats are going to have to defend 6 of their own, some in states Trump won handily. They are not defeating Trump, they have no one that can win a majority of states.
Mark it.
Pete Sessions was a US representative from Texas for over 22 years. In the 2018 mid-terms he was unseated by Democrat Colin Allred.

Trump beat her by over 70 electoral votes, that is not squeaking one out. Trump will win more electoral votes this next time and probably 65 percent of the states.
Reagan '84 : 525 electoral votes
Reagan '80 : 489
Bush '88 : 426
Clinton '96 : 379
Clinton '92 : 370
Obama '08 : 365
Obama '12 : 332
Trump '16 : 304 ; Lost the popular vote
Bush '04 : 286
Bush '00 : 271 : Lost the popular vote

So yeah, Trump squeaked out an electoral college victory

he didn't squeak out an electoral college victory with 304. And why are you citing the popular vote when it's irrelevant?

Bush '00 literally squeaked one out.

He won a district carried by Hillary Clinton and he was a popular football player that served in the Obama administration. It is a district that includes Dallas. Blue and liberal. He only won by 15,000 votes of over 300,000 votes cast.
Trump won 60 percent of the states. Hardly a squeaker.
Dat 22 percent Macron approval tho.

Porn Should Pay for Border Wall, Says Republican Arizona Lawmaker

With the government shutdown still ongoing, one Arizona politician seems to have concocted the perfect plan to fund the wall: make people pay to watch porn.

Recently, Republican state Rep. Gail Griffin shared a house bill that would require companies that sell or make electronics in Arizona to add a built-in porn-blocked software and then charge users $20 to view porn, according to the New York Post. The money would be allocated to the Arizona Commerce Authority for the supposed “John McCain Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Fund.”
The bill reads that the fund would then go to “build a border wall between Mexico and this state or fund border security” and provide grants for mental health services, temporary housing, school districts, and law enforcement.

But proponents of adult entertainment are calling the bill “pretty clearly unconstitutional.” Comparable proposals have been introduced in Virginia and Rhode Island, but “the border wall twist is new,” Mike Stabile, spokesman for the non-for-profit Free Speech Coalition, told the Arizona Mirror.

According to the Mirror, the bill seems to be connected to Chris Sevier, a man who notoriously sued Utah in 2017 for failing to acknowledge his marriage to his laptop. A few years before, in 2013, he attempted to sue Apple, alleging that his Macbook was culpable for his addiction to porn.

So basically, this Republican wants to create a tax to fund the wall. I though Republicans were against raising taxes. I thought Mexico would pay for the wall.

It won’t happen. That is going down the slippery slope of taxing the various genre of what a person views on the internet.
SCOTUS would bitch slap that tax.

Every congressperson along southern border opposes border wall funding

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trumps...-border-opposes-border-wall-funding-2019-1-8/

Nine congressional representatives serve the districts that line the 2,000-mile southern border. They are men, women, freshman politicians and Washington veterans. The Democrats among them span liberal ideologies, while one of them is a Republican.

But they all have one thing in common: each is against President Donald Trump's border wall.

A Literal Wall Expert Explains Why Trump's Wall Won't Even Work

In a epic Facebook post shared more than 100,000 times, an actual structural and civil engineer explained why the project is also a "monumental waste of money" and will be ineffective if it ever goes up.

"Structurally and civil engineering-wise, the border wall is not a feasible project," wrote Amy Patrick, a structural and civil engineer from Houston, Texas.
"Trump did not hire engineers to design the thing. He solicited bids from contractors, not engineers. This means it's not been designed by professionals. It's a disaster of numerous types waiting to happen," she added.

Patrick teaches structural analysis and design at the University of Houston and says she has been deposed as an expert witness in matters regarding proper wall construction, making her a literal "court-accepted expert on walls."
She shared three major concerns about the wall, including how it could impede the movement of water during flash floods and increase the risk of flooding; that it could disrupt the surrounding ecology; and that the wall prototypes so far are "nearly impossible to build or don't actually do the job," citing an article from Engineering.com.

Trump has demanded Congress hand over more than $5 billion to fund the unpopular wall, and even sought $25 billion for it at one point.

But when all is said and done, Patrick estimates the wall could be as "higher than $50 billion" and won't even be finished in the president's lifetime due to "rework, complexities beyond the prototype design, factors to prevent flood and environmental hazard creation, engineering redesign" and other complications.

The structural forensicist is certain that the project "WILL go wrong" and noted that others in her field might not even want to work on the controversial project, as "a large quotient of us are immigrants, and besides, we can't afford to bid on jobs that are this political."
"We're small firms, and we're already busy, and we don't gamble our reputations on political footballs. So you'd end up with a revolving door of contractors making a giant, uncoordinated muddle of things, and it'd generally be a mess. Good money after bad. The GAO agrees with me," she said.
Further, she argues that the wall "won't be effective" and could, right now, easily scale it with a 32-foot extension ladder and a cheap custom saddle.

"Another thing: we are not far from the day where inexpensive drones will be able to pick up and carry someone," Patrick wrote. "This will happen in the next ten years, and it's folly to think that the coyotes who ferry people over the border won't purchase or create them. They're low enough, quiet enough, and small enough to quickly zip people over any wall we could build undetected with our current monitoring setup."

Patrick is not alone in her derision of Trump's pet project. Most voters remain are strongly opposed to a wall on the Mexican border, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Monday, with 55 percent saying that they reject every argument for the wall.

Opponents also worry that the wall will dissect a border tribe, degrade the natural landscape and threaten 93 endangered and threatened species, including jaguars, ocelots, Mexican gray wolves and cactus ferruginous pygmy owls, according a study from the Center for Biological Diversity.

"Let's have border security, by all means, but let's be smart about it. This is not smart. It's not effective. It's NOT cheap," Patrick concluded. "The returns will be diminishing as technology advances, too. This is a ridiculous idea that will never be successfully executed and, as such, would be a monumental waste of money."

But we know Trump won't take her opinion into consideration 'cause he ses himself as an expert on everything, as someone who knows issue way better than people who have dedicated their lives to it...

I call it BS.

Trump is bluffing. He's tryin' to make Dems cave 'cause he knows that if Dems don't cave during the next 3 weeks, he wil have no other option than to cave. There's no way he restarts the shutdown. And even if he does, there's no way Dems will cave. 'cause they know Trump has more to loose than them, they know each shutdown day is day day where Trump's poll numbers drop.

Illegal border crossings are at an all time low. If you think a border wall is needed, you're a moron

So you are stating that as of today, this very day, less mexicans are entering the USA illegally by crossing the US/Mexico and or the US/Canada border than ever before in the history of the universe?
That's fucking interesting man.

Yes that's what I'm stating. Look nobody in the history of this country knows more about the immigration than me.

 From Chicago, huh? That explains it.

Does that look like illegal border crossings are at an all time low?

This is the 26th group of more than 100 people to come across the border in the remote area in New Mexico’s Bootheel region since October.
That's just since fucking October!!! And complete with flesh-eating bacteria. From what I've heard, there is NO Border Wall / Fence there right now.

So there are less mexicans illegally crossing the border today than say in 1,000,000 BC?

Here are some early mexicans crossing the Rio Grande during the Paleolithic Era.

The point is not that the wall is a waste of money euals border protection should be less funded and developed.

It rather means the opposite.

Your border protection and the fight against drug and migrant trafficking needs a boost, and you must not burn that bulk of workpower and money on a static, stupid wall. There is a lot of high-tech solutions that provide a WAY better ratio of preventing the traffickers.

Build a 20 story/200 foot high 2000 mile long, low rent, apartment building all along the border with doors only on the American side and barred windows on the Mexican side.
This will prevent the millions of illegals trying to enter America every day, and will give affordable housing to all the homeless and poor people in America.
And all the residents get free BB-guns to shoot any illegals trying to climb the wall/housing project.
Solar panels and wind turbines on the roof will provide all the electricity needed.

I don't have a twitter account, someone tweet this genius idea to Trump. I don't care if Trump takes credit for it.
