Bloodborne

I picked up this game after hearing so many good things about the Demon Souls/Dark Souls games (same developer as Bloodborne). It is a lot of fun but god damn can it be difficult but it's hard in a good way, it definitely reminds me of old school games. My only problem is that I'm terrified to truly shut the game off; luckily Sony just released a patch on the PS4 that allows you to put the system in sleep mode but it'll suspend your game and start you where you left of when you return.

Can anyone clarify for me if everytime I use the Hunter's Dream lanterns does it automatically save? Meaning, I can go into a level to farm and build up my Blood Echoes, go back to the lantern and use it, buy shit and then come back out and that's where I'll start next time if shut it off?

It's like the souls games in that it constantly autosaves, you don't have to worry about finding a lantern first. Using an item, killing an enemy etc. is enough to make it save, and you will start in the exact same spot when you reload the game (unless you are in the middle of a boss fight or something). I think you can see the autosave icon flash in the top right hand corner.

I think its great so far, 15 hours in and past 4 bosses and the first 3 from the chalice dungeons. I played Demon's and Dark Souls like 100 hours each.

Any help with the Blood Starved Beast? This thing is damn hard, funny thing is the very first time I fought him I almost had one hit left to kill him and then I died, ever since then i can't beat him!

I like to punish this lunge kinda move it does by dodging sideways early on, then its takes a while to recover - https://youtu.be/M71hGLnE_xQ?t=25
Dodge sideways when it does its long forward slashing combo later on too. Dodging back continually can work but make sure you won't back into a wall or something.
It's hard to complete without antidotes so if you feel like you aren't going to win maybe just save them.

Pungent blood cocktails can distract it for a short while. Try to get behind it and for go a charged R2 - visceral attack combo. Don't throw from too far away though or it might not notice.
Molotovs are pretty good in the final stage where it can poison you easily, but you should still wait for the right moment so you don't miss.

Best thing is to learn to recognise its attacks and don't get greedy when theres an opening. For a while I could hardly find an opportunity to attack because I was standing in front of it too much. Get to the side or behind as much as possible.
