Automotive things going-on

I remember earlier this year during the gas crisis, I would be staring at the pump price in horror and couldn't turn away.

Yeah; I can relate. I think it was in late August, my employer started to require peeps to work one day a week in the office. I drove my sports car in, which was only at about a 1/4 tank. So, I hit a quickie store with gas down the road, first. The car has a supercharged V-8 (!!), so it takes premium. Well .. premium that day I think was $5.799. So, my ~ 12 gallons to fill it was over $60. N-E-V-E-R in my life have a topped off a car for that much money!

My truck has a 26 gal. tank, so it hurts. My last truck had a 33 gal. tank, and that was just a painful experience. But, it's my own fault for getting a V8 tank. I can't help it, I like to sit higher up, and enjoy being surrounded by lots of iron.

Never. I love my my redneck battle wagon. I'm a big man, you've seen my picture, I'm not squeezing my silly square ass into a little tin can. If I don't keep this one, until the end, I would consider a 6 cyl, but I will never go to a car. In fact, I've never owned a car, just trucks. $ trucks, and 3 bikes. But my wife drives a 4 cyl Honda Accord.

The last car that broke the record was a Benz. I think it was a racer, and 1 of 2 left, the other being destroyed in a wreck. It was sold and proceeds went to Ukraine. Now this one is out there fetching more money then I could ever imagine spending o a car, even if I had it. $143 mil buys a lot of classic American muscle, plus a boat, a bike, and a comfy house.

Great mind think alike.

Now if we could just find a couple!

Yeah, Daystar. I saw the same link. Crazy-low miles.
Just the 1 of 1, and link to Shelby puts it in the 6 figure range, and probably high 6.

But how much can you drive it, without depreciating it? A car like that, with that many ponies, AND a stick shift! How could you not? BOOM GOES THE INVESTMENT!!!

That's scary fast man. I don't know that I would want to try. I've done 135mph in a 77 Trans Am once, and 103 mph on my old Harley shovelhead, the best I've ever done in a semi was 79 or 80 mph, and that was the scariest of the 3. It's a lot of vehicle to be going that fast in, but it was a bright hot sunny day, and the road was smooth, and empty, so I got lucky with a tail wind, and a slight down hill grade, and took a shot. I would have never broke 70 on flat road.

There's 3 of them so far today. Two Fords, and a Bugatti. I love the Ford's, but never was a fan of Bugatti. I would like the first blue Mustang, with the gold stripe. I've never been a fan of rag tops, and I've always thought the fastback Mustangs looked the best. Although there is some question in the comments about what year it is, I like the GT40, because it's an American beast, and I loved the movie Ford vs. Ferrari.

I'm not a truck guy, but I have registered for some Ford Forum message boards. This just came in:

The all-new 2023 F-Series Super Duty is unrivaled among heavy-duty pickup trucks with the best towing available for every trailer type and maximum available towing of 40,000 pounds*, best-in-class maximum available payload of 8,000 pounds**, and 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque*** from the new high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel.

That's not to much less then you can put in a full size semi trailer. More then a 28 foot pup. When I left my job, I was driving a tandem Freightliner, and pulling a 28 footer, and I could get 34k in the trailer legal, if I loaded it right. That will be a great set up for a hot shot driver, although even with a 5th wheel set up, I don't know if they make any trailers yet, rated that high. I know a tag trailer for a back hoe or smaller dozers will be easier for smaller landscape or cement contractors.

Personally, I love my redneck battle wagon. I've never owned a ar, but I've owned 4 pick ups. The F150 with the eco boost, is supposed to pull 12k lbs. with a V6. The trucks in that article are more for light commercial duty, even if it's a 250 with a plow, the smallest one if more then a guy like Dino, or myself would want to pay for.
