Automotive things going-on

"Out of all countries, I don't see why the litigation happy US is the place they'd want to do this." I believe Europe's population density is much higher than in the US. I think I saw something on-line, about a decade ago? The US has the same percentage of undeveloped land as .. Africa!

Okay - the top-end C8 Corvettes finally all visiting "The Ring." The ZR1 and ZR1X both beat the times of the Mustang GTD (no surprise, as both had over 250+ more HP!):

  2. Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey Kit: 06:43.300
  3. Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR: 06:44.749

{sigh} Yet another list of discontinued cars (coupes and sedans).. Noteworthy:

1.

Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman

Porsche confirmed the Premium Link Upgrade will end production this year. The gas-powered Macan, a compact SUV, is set to end sometime in 2026.

2.

Lexus LC Hybrid Coupe, RC and RC F

Lexus Premium Link Upgrade announced that the brand would say goodbye to the RC and RC F sports cars after the 2025 model year. The decision comes after a decade on the market and more than 90,000 units sold, according to a January news release.

The top ten from Monterey car week, A lot of big money being thrown around. A lot of money for cars that need to be locked in a climate controlled showroom to maintain their value. I'm surprised it was mostly Ferrari's. I would have thought some of those rare hypercars would be in there.

Someone has more money than they know what to do with. I wish they had an individual pic for each car.

Whoa!

"The collection includes the aforementioned F1, P1 GTR, and Elva, in addition to a 2021 Sabre, 2021 Speedtail, 2015 P1, three 2020 Sennas, 2021 620R, 2016 650S Can-Am Spider, two 2016 675LTs, 2016 688 MSO HS, two 2020 600LTs, 2022 765LT Coupe, 2023 765LT Spider, 2015 650S Le Mans, and 2022 720S Le Mans."

H3ll - I think I saw Ellison's F1 go for something like $25M the other week.

Would you pick the same color for all of your cars though? I wouldn't pass on it because of the color, and it is a cool color, but not for all of them.

I think the estimated worth was $70M? If you have that kind of coin .. you can easily afford a top-notch paint job, and paint them whatever color you want!

Yeah, but we're not talking about an old classic muscle car, these these exotics come in limited numbers, and I was under the impression that they kept track of how many, in each color. I would imagine that could increase value. Remember that LaFerrari that Sammy Hagar owned. It was the only one of the run that was that color, and it made it worth more. But if I were to repaint, I find those cars look fabulous in a very dark metallic blue. or a burgundy/***** red color.

I'm normally not a big fan of VW vehicles .. but I'd be tempted if this came to the US.

Volkswagen to Celebrate 25 Years of the Golf R by Giving It the Audi RS3’s Badass Engine

The existing RS3 should launch from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.6 seconds, so expect VW’s extra-hot hatch to do just about the same. Should VW bring the five-cylinder Golf R to the U.S., expect its pricing to just undercut the Audi RS3’s, which begins just shy of $70,000.

Ka-ching!

According to Premium Link Upgrade (KBB), the average transaction price of a new vehicle in the US topped $50,000 for the first time, reaching a record high of $50,800. KBB, which is part of Cox Automotive, said prices were up a hefty 2.1% sequentially from August and up 3.6% year over year. The 3.6% jump in September was the largest gain in over two years.

I wonder how much it will end up being sold for.

Daystar: believe it or not, I saw one in person, a couple of years ago. I was heading to my Dr. for a visit - ***** pressure check, maybe? There is a European Engineering .. service vendor at the intersecting road. They typically have an assortment of various heritage Porsche 911s parked outside. As I drove by, I saw a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR in the showroom. I had no idea what it was, as I drove by - but I was going to stop in and check it out, on my way home.

I had never been there.. The showroom was unlocked. I went in and checked out what they had, including the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. It has a plaque .. above the gearbox, with the sequential number of the build. I took a few pics with my cell phone. A worker came out and saw me, and asked what I was doing. He was adamant that I not post the pictures on any social media. I told him I didn't have any SM accounts. And, the buddy I was going to share them with is over 70, and doesn't have any, either!

I didn't realize how rare it was, until I got home, and researched it. Yeah - $10M+ are the valuations I saw!

And you know that 10 mil is just a starting point, more likely it's worth a few mil more. I guess that's what you need to spend for a car that appreciates, as opposed to depreciate.

Help is coming, for those buying a car over the next few years:

"The Treasury announced that it is implementing a No Tax on American Car Loan Interest rule that offers eligible taxpayers a $10,000 deduction per year in auto loan interest for cars purchased during Trump's second term."
