Armed 85-year-old Woman Stops Burglar

POINT MARION, Pa. (Aug. 19) -- An 85-year-old woman boldly went for her gun and busted a would-be burglar inside her home, then forced him to call police while she kept him in her sights, police said. "I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun," Leda Smith said.
Smith heard someone break into her home Sunday afternoon and grabbed the .22-caliber revolver she had been keeping by her bed since a neighbor's home was burglarized a few weeks ago.
...Smith said. "I just hope I broke up the (burglary) ring because they have been hitting a lot of places around here."

I'm sorry, but I had to post it. :)

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Thats fucking beautiful! I love the fact that SHE made him call the cops on himself. This is what the 2nd Amendment is all about, I applaud this woman, if I lived in her neighborhood, I would buy her the best diner, at the finest eatery I could find. You go granny!

I love the story, but I bet granny didn't have any ammunition for the gun.

I not only bet the opposite ...

Actually, I not only bet the opposite, but the gun is always loaded.

The majority of senior citizens I know keep their guns loaded at all times.
Beyond the security reasons, a couple even told me it's so they don't even have to try remember if it is currently loaded or not.
They just always assume it's loaded, so they don't do anything with it they don't intend to.

Which is what most gun owners (at least proper gun owners) believe ...
That you only pick it up if you damn well intend to use it.
You only point at someone if you damn well intend to shoot them with it.

Well they would only be able to take care of themselves if they had that right - the right to bear arms. I think AOL made a mistake to have informed the public about this "news." Kudos to them.

On a side note, where are all the anti-guners on the forum now? Would they have wept for this individual had she been beaten to death had she not had her pistola??? :dunno:

The anti gunners of the forum, we know clearly who they are and what they are in favor. The anti gunners will always find some lame excuses to bash the 2nd amendment.

Any new news on this and the burglaries?

Nothing. It was news for a couple days but after that it died out. Being from Pittsburgh there's only 2 types of news here: regular news and the Steelers. If something big happens with the Steelers, that takes top story over anything. You have to be from here to understand.
