Anti-Virus Software

I thought I'd post this here, since what better place to discuss Anti-Virus apps than a porn site. We all know how downloading porn seems to be the main source of virus problems, at least in my experience.

My question is, what does everyone here use? I was using AVG Free, but some sites seem to suggest the AVG software isn't as good at detecting Viruses. My previous AV software was Trend Micro, but their latest incarnation is major bloatware like Norton and McAfee.

Last night I DL'd NOD32 for a trial period of 30-days. It seems like a great package that's low on resources and gets good reviews at AV-Comparatives.org.

Norton.

I'm shit when it comes to virus protection, this PC is probably crawling with the little bastards...

I've been using a program called avast. It's free...and seems to do a great job.
Just do a web search for avast antivirus and you should find it easily.

I use McAfee and it works fine. Also, It comes free if you use Comcast as your ISP.

knows petras secret: she farted.
i have not had a virus on a couple of years. and guess what. no virus software whatsoever. firefox helps.

I use AVG 7.5 - I've had no problems of any kind.

No matter which anti-virus you use, just make sure it's kept up to date.:hatsoff:

Nikkala made me do it!
I use Norton IS and Webroot Spysweeper :computer:

Windows defender: It was originally made by some independant company, but was so good that Windows just bought it and slapped their name on it. Keep in mind that it's mainly for trojans and other heavier junk. To get rid of spyware you may need to use spybot and ad aware, which are the two other things I use.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
AVG 7.5 one one computer. And CA supplied virus on the laptop (it came with the dsl service), Firewalls all around.

Norton Internet Security 2007.

If it didn't keep my PC clean I'd remove it in a flash. It seriously reduces system performance (also boot time takes about 20 seconds longer than with the 2006 version).

There was a good article in the Wall Street Journal that complained about a new PC out of the box is filled with icons, and all kinds of ad crap like AOL. While I use Norton, one part of the article talked about how Norton had all kinds of "sirens" and "flashing lights", (my phrasing), to let you know you better upgrade it right now, because you were underprotected. I guess they all do that now. :dunno:

i use secretmaker...it blocks just about everything including popups and worms and what not

I used F-Prot. It was like $10 cheaper than Mcafee and Norton but doesn't slow your computer down as much.

I let it expire and don't use anything now, though I do scan my hard drive for free weekly at www.sarc.com. If I ever do get a virus or spyware I would go through all the free avenues already listed (AVG, Avast, AD-Aware,etc...) If you can find out what virus you have, you can go to www.pchell.com and check to see if it list how to remove your particular virus.

If all that doesn't work, their is a local computer place near me that will take care of everything for $50. You Might see if their is one near you.

Anybody know anything or have used PC-cillin? I have norton but its expired and don't want to dish out $50 bucks for the renewal if I don't need to. Pc-cilin got good reviews on the PC World website, but i wish I knew someone who has used it. I can buy it for 20 but don't want to buy it if its crap.

Also I use Adware Se personal on my comp., its free to download and finds alot of spyware and removes it. Spybot is practically useless now, doesn't find nothing.
