I am not very optimistic, rather expecting someone to appear and keep on...

It' s a tragic side of Zymurgy's First Law of Evolving Systems Dynamics:
Once you open a can of worms, the only way to recan them is to use a bigger can.

well its obvious some other guy will take over, and the war will go on...
Even if they catch/kill Bin Laden, there will obviously be someone that will take over.

Unfortunately some other "leader" will rise to take his place, bu as long as we keep knocking them down we make out point known.

Terrorism is the last resort of a desperate mind :2 cents:

On BBC News, they were saying a lot of people are happy that he is dead, but things may worsen. The insurgents will retaliate, maybe harder with suicide bombs, and beheadings. He is also seen as a martyr now, and someone will take his place.

I won't be sending flowers to his funeral:nono:

His death will change nothing, even if ben laden died terrorism would stay as much active as today, solving violence by violence only can worsen the situation and american are too dumb to understand that.. :2 cents:
RIP Mr. al-Zarqawi even if you were an asshole  :D

Iraqi Prime Minister: Nuri al-Maliki said:
"Every time a Zarqawi appears we will kill him, we will continue confronting whoever follows his path. It is an open war between us."

Doesn't that sound cheery.

Is it not obvious that killing the leaders is no means to an end? People don't join the terrorist organisations because of the figureheads persuading them. They aren't brainwashed as we'd like to believe, they genuinely think they're being oppressed, and are doing the only thing they know how to, to combat it.
If you make martyrs of the leaders, the people in the terrorist organisations are not going to suddenly change their minds and stop making/using weapons. Of course they are not going to change their views, if anything they'd be urged on by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's killing. And when we say we're happy at these leaders getting killed, and the western world at large seems to have the same opinion, it can only end up toughening their resolve against us. If George Bush was assassinated tomorrow (OK I know there'd be some Americans who'd jokingly say they were happy), but it would hardly weaken America's determination, as a country, to end the threat of terrorism. I think it'd only encourage them.

This is why I really don't think killing people such as Abu Musab al-Zarqawi does any good at all.

it's good PR for bush and his base, that's about it imo

I'm sure Bush is only thinking about his "Approval Rating"

I can see him now...doing a little "cowboy strut" in the oval office over this news this morning.:nanner:
"Gee, Dick...ya think my poll numbers will climb back up now?"

I think its a great accomplishment that the U.S. got this fucker...but that's only one down...how many others to go? At least it's positive news for a change.

Cause really, what else are they going to do? Work on a rock farm? Go towel shopping?

As long as there are people who suck there will always be terrorism. People will always suck, and we will keep killing them.

oooh, I bet they're really going to hate us now.

:glugglug: here's one for those guys who made it possible. Good shot guys!

And for those clowns who follow that hellbound rotting piece of shit :thefinger

It's a bit like Dr. Frankenstein killing the monster, though, really. He was able to rise in power because of our actions in Iraq. I hope people remember this before they decide to like Bush again.

He needed to die, and an air strike was too good a way for someone who beheaded innocent people to go. I'd much rather he be a dead martyr than a live asshole killing people both directly, and by command.

Unfortunately, this, in my eyes, is the only way to deal with this threat. Keep killing them before they kill us. It's unfortunate, but if we try to negotiate with them, then their tactics have prevailed, and that will encourage them to do the same or worse the next time they don't get their way. This was brought down upon those people by their own actions though.

God, when I read this, it makes me sound like I am pro-war in Iraq. I am absolutely not, but this asshole had to go, as do all of his followers, and any like him.

imo blowing people up or putting bullets in their heads (or innocent bystanders heads) is one shitty way to prove any point let alone drive it home.

If you really want to stop terrorism 1. We'd have better foreign policy and 2. We'd be more concerned with the blight and pain of others around the world

If we were building schools and education while providing technology and food, when the crazy terrorist leaders came around to recruit people to blow up our buildings, they'd most likely say, wtf...they are giving us a leg up in the world, why the hell would we want to jihad against them?
