The Bible says that homosexuality is a sin so how can he marry same-sex couples.

Such a marriage is not a true Christian marriage

But gays can marry through civilian marriage and get the benefits that normal married couples get.

Self defense is OK. As long as it's proportionate to the attack : you don't shoot someone who punched you or stole your wallet
