I'm pretty sure the rest of the democratic world is jealous that the US can generate this much excitement over elections which don't even decide the leader of the country. .
Is jealous the right term? It is worthwhile, but the time, money, and effort exerted is significant. We begin to sort out the results in order to begin it all again.

In europe most of the times the general election is tied to head of state. So ... nothing really compareable to midterms and the general election gets quite a huge excitment cause presidents/head of state arent as strong as in the USA
While that might be true, even if countries did have something comparable and elected their legislatures/etc every couple years, I question if they can generate the type of hype the US midterms have. Between the issues, wacky campaigns and the implications for the POTUS election, all elevated by the media narrative, there is something undeniably fascinating about them.

There are still votes to count, but I was really looking forward to no inflation, no crime, and low gas prices.

In 2018, Trump lost 41 House seats and gained 2 Senators. That will be the benchmark.

Speaking of Trump: he was not happy last night it seems. Wonder if the results will impact his ‘big’ announcement next week?

As much as I'd love to see a wacky election with rump as a candidate, I wouldn't mid seeing a more "sane" POTUS race. Him not being the supposed kingmaker in the midterms bodes well for him either not running for nom, or not getting it.

Agreed. We need two fresh candidates under the age of 70.

Here's an interesting look at the state of US political discourse. A WWE interviewer tweets that she voted and that those who didn't should shut up.
The comments are evenly divided between those who say they have a right to bitch even if they don't vote and...
...those commenting on her nipples.

Make of that what you will.

So what are we guessing, sometime around Feb. or March, we'll know who the hell got elected?

I wish we had a way of making squares and betting on it.

Groundhog Day (Feb 2) would be an appropriate day to release the results.

Fox News has joined calling it for Democrats, that's when you know it's over for the MAGAts.

Haha. We need to capitalize it. "The Red Drip" That's so much better. Now all he needs is a red, white, and blue cape.

"Look. Up in the sky, it's a bird. It's a plane. It's the Red Drip ..."

In a deep low voice, he says, "Howdy Ma'me" :ROFLMAO:

Wow. What an accurate description :) .. Here's something, we've all got to remember this. Stormy Daniels called him "Mr. Puny" - Seems fair.:giggle:

Take me out to the blame game
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/11/13/larry-hogan-trump-election-record-00066633

Larry Hogan is no Spiro Agnew (thankfully!):
“It’s basically the third election in a row that Donald Trump has cost us the race, and it’s like, you know — three strikes, you’re out,”

Of course, there is plenty of blame to go around - Mitch McConnell is taking some heat:
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/11/13/senate-republicans-wrestle-with-midterm-loss-00066644
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate...ays-senate-gop-leadership-caved-to-democrats/

Rick Scott said that Republicans “caved in on the debt ceiling, caved in on a gun bill, caved in on a fake infrastructure bill.” He obviously missed (overlooked?) the Republicans who voted against it, but campaigned touting its benefits. Scott didn't recognize the guy in the mirror:

Republican Sen. Rick Scott of Florida also voted against the bill but in January toured a new embankment in the Everglades and tried to take credit for “securing an unprecedented $1 billion for Everglades restoration, the largest single amount ever allocated by the federal government.”
I woke up this morning
Didn't recognize the man in the mirror
Then I laughed and I said
"Oh silly me, that's just me"

I was a bit disappointed the people I voted for Mayor and Sheriff may have lost but I am very happily about Donald Trump's influence being diminished which gives a better pathway for Ron Desantis to run for President. I don't know if a narcissistic carny like Trump will step aside but I hope either he does or is forced/coerced to.

His time is over and he's of no use anymore. Fit him for cement boots and throw him overboard. Bring on the new servant.
Fun fact. You really don't need a shoe size for cement shoes. You need a galvanized wash tub. and enough cement to go about 3/4 of the way up. You just tie the shoe wearer to a pole, while making him stand in the cement until it sets. Next time on "Mob Mayhem", Sicilian neck ties. Are they still in fashion?

I agree, and I've been saying for a long time, his ego and attitude would be great, if the world were the WWE, and he was going head to head against Vince McMahon. But he's too arrogant with the wrong people, and too conniving for all the rest. He can't seem to stop putting blame on everyone else, and he blatantly stabs backs. Honestly, he would have done alright in my eyes, if he would have just not been such an ass when he was in office. If he would have just put the twitter account on hold, and came out and said, what EVERY other politician needs to say, he would have done okay.

Every politician needs to say, "Hey, I've got to many major problems with the economy. the infrastructure, outrageously skyrocketing crime rates, and smoothing out the mess in foreign affairs to worry about everybody else's personal agendas.
