Sorry Jagg, I'm putting it all on you and The Cards.

7 of the last 8 walk-offs are Mets hanging their heads. Can we sweep a fucking series? The D Backs and Fish. 5 other sweeps all lost in games by 1 run. After last night those Mets could walk out of Philly with a split tonight (thanks guys). My hate for the Brewers comes from Bud Selig. That scumbag was a part of the collusion thing. Sold his interest to his daughter, moved them to the NL and gets a share of every ticket regardless of home field. This guy set the field for making money without spending it with revenue sharing. Welfare for owners. Develop some players and ship them off when arbitration or free agency comes due. Yea they are in a small market but the Fish and Oakland, and Minnesota have flags hanging since Robin Yount retired.

That's a lot of pressure. Hope we're up to it. Stay tuned.

The Detroit Tigers used seven relief pitchers in a 19-inning loss on Sunday and figured Kate Upton’s boy friend ( Justin Verlander) could eat some innings as a starter on Monday. Instead, JV was gone by the end of the second inning thanks to a sore shoulder, leaving the Tigers to search their minor league farm system for starting pitchers.

Twelve days ago after the acquiring David Price from Tampa Bay the Tigers were in first place in the AL Central cruising toward another division title. Now they have 2 starters and a closer on the DL and have fallen into second place,

Lefty rookie Robbie Ray will start tonight and somebody named Buck Farmer will start on Wednesday.

How do you spell complete collapse?....It’s spelled Detroit Tigers!!!

Sorry about last night, Bob. What can I say?? :dunno:

Wow....that's some bad luck that has befallen El Tigres for sure. Plus, KC has been playing out of their heads....however I wouldn't give up just yet. There's still a long way to go.

Once again the Tigers bats appeared lifeless in their 4-2 loss to the Pirates last night. Tigers broadcast analyst Jim Price put it best when he said “the team is just out of sync.” The Tigers have been streaky since late May, up one week and down the next. With the Tigers you never know what you’re going to get, the only thing consistent is they are inconsistent.

Here is a rather revealing statistic:

Detroit’s season got off to an excellent start, on May 18th their record was 27-12, they were 7 games up in the AL Central. In the next 78 games (nearly half a season) they have won 36, while losing 42. If this trend continues they can forget about the playoffs and World Series.

The team did get some encouraging news, however. An MRI on Justin Verlander’s pitching shoulder showed inflammation, but no major damage , he is only expected to miss one or two starts.

If the Tigers are "out of sync", the Cardinals are spinning into oblivion. This team has no offense....can't score runs, you can't win. Simple game, really.

To quote Tom Hanks from the movie “A League of their own.” “There’s no crying in baseball.” Baseball is a crazy game filled with inexplicable statistics that have the tendency to drive us all nuts.

Take the two teams who finished the season with the highest winning percentages of all time in their respective leagues for an example. In the National League we have the 1906 Chicago Cubs with a winning percentage of .763 (116-36). Yes, that’s right the Cubs, that alone is inexplicable. The Cubs and winning are generally mutually exclusive. While over in the American League the 1954 Cleveland Indians finished the season with a rather rare winning percentage of .721 (111-43).

Both teams would go on to lose the World Series. In 1906 The White Sox defeated the Cubs in the only all Chicago World Series four games to two. In the 54’ Series the pitching rich Cleveland Indians lost four straight to Leo Durocher’s New York Giants, led by Willie Mays and his catch of the century.

The only thing left to say is we need to keep the faith and perhaps hope for a miracle.

Another St. Louis Cardinals-Detroit Tigers World Series would be fine with me.

10 in a row at Shitty-Field...for the Nats. The Mets had everything working for them. Cinncy, Pit, Mil all losing plus St. Lou beats Miami. Twice late in the game 2nd and 3rd 1 out can not get a ball out of the infield. The night before was batting practice as expected for Wash but tonight there was no excuse. 0-14 with RISP for these 2 games. What's left for me this season? Watching the Yankees and Brewers collapse.

More bitching and complaining. Time to pick on David Wright. Since the All-Star break:

G 26
AB 103
BA .243
SLG .262
Extra Base Hits 2 doubles

For the season:

2 out BA .226
2 out RISP BA .189 slugging .189 That's 7 for 37 with 6 RBI all singles.

At what point do we say,"Hey! What the fuck is going on Captain? We're paying you $130M for this and the next 6 seasons. You can't blame the rest of the team since you are the only one swinging the bat when you step to the plate" Those numbers have nothing to do with plate/lineup protection.

Agreed. KC would be a great Cinderella story, but Detroit has so much talent I think they'll right the ship in time.

Similar to the Giants, who were on fire until June 9th (42-22), while going 21 and 35 since.

A truly shocking Mets moment - 11:02 PM EST Oct. 9, 1988

Being as they've won nothing since it feels like the Dodger franchise used up ALL of its luck in that one post-season lol

There is a rather interesting article on the front page of this morning’s Detroit News titled “Tigers eye next big catch”. The Tigers are one of several teams trying to woo right-handed hitting Cuban centerfielder Rusney Castillo (age 27) who defected last year. Castillo’s combination of power and speed could provide immediate help to the team he signs with. However, he hasn’t played at any level in over a year, but Tigers scouts don’t view this as a problem. The Tigers will have competition from the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs and Mariners all of whom are expected to make generous offers for his services. But the Tigers are said to have the potential inside track in his singing.

In my humble opinion the Tigers would be better served in acquiring another arm for the bullpen. That should be their number one priority, not a centerfielder. Once again in yesterday’s game, Phil Coke came close to blowing another Tigers victory. Max Scherzer shutout the Pirates for eight innings on three hits with 14 strikeouts, then Coke was called on in the ninth to close things out. In true Phil Coke fashion he walked the leadoff man and one batter later gave up a two-run souvenir that landed in the in the cheap seats in leftfield. Joba Chamberlain who had the day off was brought in to nail down the victory. Right now, Chamberlain has the only reliable arm the Tigers can turn to in the late innings and he can’t pitch every day.

Kansas City is going nowhere. They built their stadium on Indian land so they're forever cursed. They can't win meaningful games. Think Cubs with super AIDS, that's KC sports.

But the Royals in '85 took advantage of a gift call in game 6 vs the Phillies to come back 3-2 down to win that WS.

Two good 3B in that series with George Brett vs Mike Schimdt.

But the Chicago sCrUBS are all about this, or in lame man terms A JOKE!

The Detroit Tigers offensive or should I say lack of offensive is taking the team right out of the playoff picture. Sunday the Tiger bats looked listless once again in their 8-1 loss to Seattle. Hitting slumps are part of baseball but this slump has lasted way to long. They continue to swing at bad pitches and make easy outs. It’s been over a month since one of their hi-priced hitters has hit a home run. The Tigers are no longer in first place in the AL Central and no longer even a wild card team. If they truly are of championship caliber things had better change in a hurry.

Pitching prevails in the playoffs. Tigers have a great four SP for the playoffs minus Verlander when Anibal gets back off the DL. Ian Kinsler needs to heat up however.

I agree, the Tigers starters are some of the best in baseball. Unfortunately they only average 7 innings a start. It’s in the eight and ninth innings where the problems arise. Currently Joba Chamberlain is the only reliable arm in the pen, the rest of the lads leave a lot to be desired. The Tigers are in 14th place in the American League in bullpen ERA. They have lost 23 games by four runs or more largely attributable to their sloppy bullpen.

The extra base power has fallen off dramatically too since the All-Star break. Cabrera is having an off season with the lumber and the perception is… so goes Miggy, so goes the rest of the team. When he is bombing the ball the rest of the team seems to fall into line and follow his lead. And if you’re baffled how the team can be among the league leaders in batting average and slugging percentage yet they leave so many runners stranded on second and third, then join the club.

The Tigers look tired and listless, while Kansas City is looking like a team of destiny.

Prediction: You heard it here first, if the Tigers fail to make the post season then say goodbye to Brad Ausmus,
