This has probably already been said but even Mayan scholars have said it's been blown way out of proportion. This would be something like the 4th "new age" and has nothing to do with the human race ending but they call it a "new beginning" which just means it'll be a new age for humans, no 'reset' of any kind, no end of the world or anything.
As far as the polar shift goes, scientists have said the only thing people have to worry about is that a satellite could fall from the sky and that's the most extreme case. 2012 will come and go as every other year has.

I don't know where this doomsday stuff came from/ Mayan's revolved around circles, so if ANYTHING happens in 2012, it will be something good, not bad. A new beginning if you will.
Wrong. They stopped there for a reason. It's the end of a full cycle. Read about it. Why do you post and assume something when you don't know. I don't know if anything's going to happen but I do know why they stopped there.
Last time this happened, before the current age started. humans were savages and then they evolved to what we are now. which is why many scientists believe a further evolutionary shift will happen.

Take a look at the calendar on your wall. It ends with December 31, 2009. That doesn't mean the world ends then. It just means you get a 2010 calendar and hang it on your wall.
Same principle applies for the Mayans. They made their calendars well in advance not knowing that they would die out after a few hundred years so there were no ones left to make any updated calendars.
Even the Mayan descendants say the 2012 stuff is just western civilization's misinterpretation of Mayan culture. Mostly guilty feeling westerners much like you appear to be.
Nope. Our calendars keep going year after year. The Mayan calendar stops there to start with the first calendar they have. Like a lot of people have said, this symbolizes a "new begining" for the humans. Also there were many profits at different times that said many things that lead up to 2012. I believe Muhommad said there would be many wars around this time. Edgar Cayce said something about a lot of storms. Nostradamus said some crap even though I'm really not into him. The combination of telling I-Ching Fortunes also lands on that date i believe. It starts from when the I-Ching was formed and ends in 2012 (something like that). Also the Mayan calender lands on it. So there are a lot of coincidences. Is that all it is? Doomsday is a ridiculous notion. Hollywood ruins everything historical.
Sorry Mr History teacher but you are wrong. They stopped in accordance to their calender. what are you 15 years old? dude. look it up. It's the end of their cycle which our dec 21 2012 is their 13 000 000 or something like that.
