Kemba Walker and the Connecticut Huskies just won the Big East Tournament. They are a team to watch in the NCAA tournament.
Harrison Barnes has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. He might be the number 1 pick if he continues to lead north carolina. Not since 1978 has a player scored more than 40 in the ACC tournament game. We are talking about a lot of great players like Michael Jordan, Sean May, etc who have ****** through north carolina and not scored 40 in an ACC tournament game.

Kudos to Kansas for the dominating performance they gave yesterday in the Big 12 championship game. They looked nothing like the team that blew an 18 point lead at home to Texas back in January. If they play like they played yesterday throughout the NCAA tourney, I don't see anyone hanging with them.
Of course, I could make excuses for Texas since it was basically a home game for KU (game was in Kansas City) and it is pretty unreasonable to expect them to lose 2 games in a row to the same team on their home court. However, I don't care where they play....the KU team that showed up yesterday was unbeatable....period.
I am somewhat dismayed that the loss dropped the 'Horns all the way down to a 4 seed in the tourney but that's OK. I like them a lot better when they are underrated rather than when they are getting all the plaudits. We'll see what happens over the next 2 weeks as March Madness overtakes the nation!

im disappointed colorado didn't get in and georgia got such a high seed.
I think when it came down to deciding which bubble teams deserved an at-large tourney bid this year, it probably came down to their level of competition against non-conference teams and how they performed against them, as well as the overall progress of the team's entire season.
The thing is, the philosophy of how teams get at-large bids to the tourney can change from time to time, likewise when some committees tend to focus on progress late in the season, and others who focus on non-conference records.
For the teams that got snubbed this year, I can only say that if they had a tougher non-conference schedule, as well as taking care of business against inferior teams, they probably would've had a better chance of standing out against other bubble teams this year.

Wow, the last time I posted I thought Kansas was going to be the "under-the-radar team", and Texas was a sure #1 seed. How things have changed. But I'm still a little surprised that Texas is a 4 seed, and now has to face a dangerous Oakland team. Texas might not get out of the 1st round.
But like I've been saying all year... it's gonna be Rock-Chalk Jayhawk!!!

With all due respect to mighty Oakland, their only win over a top-25 team all year was to a totally schizoid Tennessee team. Otherwise, their record is unremarkable as far as level of competition is concerned. Not to look ahead, but I think the second-round matchup with Arizona is much more daunting for the 'Horns than the Golden Grizzlies are. Still, your warning is valid. The way this Texas team has been playing in recent weeks can only bring doubt to each and every time they take the court. Nothing they do at this stage would surprise me which is all the more reason that I continue to question Rick Barnes' ability to manage a big-time basketball program as a head coach.
Again, I agree with you. Kansas, when they are on their game, is the best team in the nation.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the tourney committee member felt embarassed after witnessing a UAB team blitzed from start to finish by Clemson last night.
It was a selection that drew a lot of controversy, considering the other bubble teams that had a solid argument of recieving an at-large tourney bid - and that's why future committee members would be wise to never again put themselves in a similar situation.
The best way to do that would be to always ask whether the team they're considering has beaten anybody. If the answer is no, it might be time to look elsewhere. Because UAB was the only at-large team that entered this NCAA tournament with zero wins against schools in the main bracket, and on Tuesday night it showed.

VCU's victory over USC last night probably means that VCU skipper Shaka Smart could be taking up an offer as a head coach in the bigger stage of college hoops.
It happened with Jeff Capel, who took over at VCU in 2002 and left four years later to become Oklahoma's head coach. It also happened for Anthony Grant, the Florida assistant VCU hired to replace Capel in 2006, then lost him to Alabama in 2009 after two NCAA tournament appearances in three seasons. Next up is Shaka Smart.
Now fans at North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and other schools with coaching vacancies will ratchet up their level of enthusiasm and start debating on message boards and radio shows whether the sharp-looking 33-year-old former Billy Donovan assistant whose teams press and run could be the solution to all their basketball problems. That's how this business works. You can win 22 games every year for five years and never really get noticed, or win one or two NCAA tournament games and have your pick of power-conference jobs.
I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying it happens, and it's probably about to happen for Smart. His challenge will be remaining focused.

While many athletic directors bristle at the mere suggestion that their coach would ever leave, Teague takes a more practical approach and understands there's a certain order to things. He knew when he hired Capel and Grant that if all went well, he would lose them in a few years, and he knew the same thing about Smart when he hired him, too. If VCU loses Smart, they'll just find the next guy the same way they found the last guy and the current guy.

We owe Florida BIG TIME for those two recent final four defeats, but I don't see the Bruins having a prayer against the Gators on Saturday.
I'm thinking Arizona gets knocked out by Memphis. At least I hope so. This was a key pick in that region for me.
