Senob you've got to love catching the imploding Dodgers for four games this weekend. It's not even the first of June but I'm declaring them officially finished. Now at twenty years of mediocrity, and counting....

Well my Reds are on a roll. Jerry Hairston jr. rules. Also having Bruce up is a good thing.

Cincy called up Jay Bruce? Damn, how'd I miss that? And Kershaw is up, too. Longoria in Tampa, and I think Seattle called up Jeff Clement. Cool to see some top prospects getting their feet wet.

I know it's painful for you, but it is really what the Mets needed. I know they won today. They spent most of the time on the news covering "Joe Torre's Return to NY", so if I may use this space to say "Fuck the Yanks and fuck the local media for their obsession with them." Need to get that out every once in awhile...

Well at least Willie will be keeping his job this weekend.

Well at least Willie will be keeping his job this weekend.

As you can imagine, the coverage of that particular situation is about all the coverage the Mets have been getting. They ran a nice article in the local NJ paper (The Star-Ledger) about possible candidates for Willie's job. I can't seem to find it online, but some of the candidates mentioned were Larry Bowa, Bobby Valentine and bench coach Jerry Manuel. I say unless they can get Bobby V back from Japan, just leave Willie in place.

I'm one of the few that do not believe Willie is the problem. I'll admit, sometimes when a team looks good on paper and they wind up underachieving, it is the manager's fault. I think here the problem has been a combination of injuries and players being past their prime. Delgado and Beltran are not the players they used to be, and injuries to Alou, Church, Castro, Pedro and El Duque to name a few have hampered the team.

At the same time, they have not been altogether horrible, like the media would have you believe. They're right now a .500 club, and there is still plenty of time to turn things around.

senob44 you are right willie isn't the problem. he can't hit field or pitch for the players. i think they need to send a message to the players by getting rid of some them even if it means a financial hit. i would start with the overrated Reyes and Oliver I'm a head case Perez. Reyes is the 5th best shortstop in the division, yes i think Christian Guzman is better because now that he is healthy he is consistent, and Oliver hasn't been any good since his one big year with the pirates. subtract these 2 and the rest of the team will get it. also you may have to platoon Delgado. injuries and several slow starts hurt the mets but the nl east has no dominant team at all so it's not to late. Jay Bruce and Joey Voto give the reds two good young bats they still need more pitching though.Clayton Kershaw will do well in la but that team has so much talent that ain't performing,Andruw is done as a outfielder dh time for him. Jeff Clement is back in the minors.Longoria could be the al rookie of the year.

I think it's time Aaron Heilman goes back down to the minors. I've had about enough of him.

I agree that something needs to be done about him. Last year it was Schoenweis, this year Heilman is the man who can almost never be counted on...

The Yankees are now .500, the 6th time in May. They're not getting buried but I hope they crank it up real soon. A third of the season is gone and right now, they should be concerned not just about Boston. The Rays are on top right now. Joba's joining the rotation Tuesday. Should be exciting. Go Yankees!

Big comeback win for the Mets. They looked like crap against the Dodgers' starter Billingsley. Then Broxton came in for the 8th and the Mets took advantage. 2-run HR by Beltran, RBI single by the Mets new "Mr. Clutch" Fernando Tatis, and the Mets were up 3-2. Billy Wagner struck out the side in the 9th. Pedro will be pitching on Tuesday! I hope the Mets can keep up this momentum through tomorrow and beyond.
