2008 MLB Thread

I remember when the Milwaukee Brewers were in the American League West and were called the Seattle Pilots (1969).

The reason there is the odd configuration of divisions is because if they divided the 30 teams into two 15 team leagues with 5 teams in each division there would have to be at least one inter-league meeting every day. That's hardly a way to market the concept each year as something "special" as they currently do every May/June when it's inter-league season.

Or they could just give one team in each league a day off. Not every team has to play every day, and they currently don't anyway. It might make the scheduling a little difficult to manage, but it's not at all impossible. Leave it in the hands of MLB and they'll probably screw it up anyway though.

Majority of the teams play every single day except monday's and a few thursdays which are traveling days, but even so some teams do play those days.

Dean Wormer's explanation makes a lot of sense if you think about. A lot of work goes into making out the MLB schedule so each team has as many home games as they do away, aswell as making all the traveling plans work out.

Does anybody know what time and what channel the White Sox/Twins game will be tomorrow? I'm trying to find it on the internet, but all I can find is game recaps from today.

Sweet, thanks. Do you know what channel it's on?

Alexei almost made me crap my pants when he hit that jack. I literally jumped out of my seat and screamed like a...like a...well...like a dude who just watched his team force a playoff game with the Twins!!!

It's on TBS.

I actually called the grand slam that he hit before it happened, and I still couldn't believe that he did it.I also jumped off of my couch and screamed at the tv,because there wasn't anyone else around in my apartment to scream at.

I really hope they destroy the Twins because I just can't stand the drama anymore.

Go Sox!

:thefinger playoff games on cable.

:wtf: Now I have to go to a sports bar or some shit to see my Brewers.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

So far, this playoff game between the White Sox and Twins is the best game I've seen played all year.

Fuck that! I want to see the Sox blow out the Twins.

I don't. I hope we string them along until the bottom of the ninth so the Twins start to think "we can win this one guys"...and then I want Jim Thome to jack a 485 foot homerun out of nowhere to win the game and completely ruin their lives.

:dreamy sigh:

If only life were so beautiful.

...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA JIM THOME!!!

Not exactly how I wanted it, but, I'll fucking take it!!!

Damn white sox.

I hope they change the rule after this year.

The Twins had a better record agaisnt them during the season, and the very least it should have been played in Minnesota.

Rules are Rules though, I just hope they get changed.

That's so funny because I told some guys at work that if the Twins lose tonight that there's gonna be some bitchin' from their fans.I don't understand or necessarily agree with how they do it,with a coin flip, but hey,I ain't complainin' now.And can you believe that the Sox assistant general manager's 5 year old son told his dad to pick heads on the flip?!

Thats like adding salt to the wound for Twins fans haha.

Im not a true Twins fan though, just like them a hell of a lot more then Chicago. Dodgers made it to the Playoffs so I am happy.

Yeah, that rules is a crappy rule. I think it should be a coin flip if the team splits the regular season series, but if one team has a better record agaisnt the other it should be at their house.

But that was the rule in place, and that was how it was done in the past so...

White Sox won't do well in the playoffs. There pitching is ruined right now.

Why, because we started our #4 pitcher and had our closer pitch one inning? HA...HA HA...HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

I'm sorry about your loss. My condolences.
