Didn't Eva Angelina run up about that much from making long distance calls to her fiance in Iraq? What did they expect would happen when they made these lengthy long-distance calls?

Yes she did. Called her man in Iraq, I believe a lot and got surprised by the cost of roaming fees...

It's 2.99 dollars per minute USA <-> Iraq

Please, people, make sure you get an extra tariff that makes sure you don't ruin yourself just because you care about your loved ones and family

Yeah. But as a former customer service worker at a communication company, I am used to people nowing very little about what terms they agreed on.

Yeah, and she tried to get us to subsidize it for her.

Yes, I remember. We had a pretty good laugh at her expense didn't we? :hatsoff:

On the other hand... if I would have been in her position, would I not attempt the same? Call out to my fans and ask for a bit of help?

I think I would.

I mean, okay, she ranks #21 at FreeOnes babe section, but I sure even she can't just cough up the cash on the spot.

Yes, it's somewhat understandable. I just found the circumstances to be pretty amusing. A cell phone bill doesn't seem as imminent as a life-threatening condition that requires expensive treatment or a humanitarian cause.

But I digress.

I racked up about 800 dollars in a few days in Montreal last month...that was pretty foolish of me.

I feel bad for this guy. Looks like AT&T took care of it, though.

Why did my post just show up as that? I wrote 3 paragraphs!!

To summarize, most times this is the customer's fault due to lack of research, but I used to work for AT&T for almost 5 years and the practice of misinformation usually went unpunished. I know I always told people that even if they got an international package, they'd still pay per minute but just at a discounted rate

It remind a story like this in France, where somebody cumulated 24000 euros mobile bills because of an Internet exceeding on his smartphone.

I racked up a $500+ bill a few years ago, also in Montreal/Saint-Sauveur. I didn't realize the roaming charges would be THAT high until I got home and saw the bill.

Until you get burned or hear about how high calls to/from foreign countries can be, I don't guess people really think about it. But best to call your provider before making that first call. Live & learn... I sure did. That bitch hit right after Christmas and paying for that vacation too. Ouch!

I covered my ass and called my cell provider and paid the fee's required to give me super cheap international calling, and unlimited texting/websurfing. My long distance charges were $20. My internet usb usage for my laptop (on the same account) was $250, and I was told when I bought the damn thing that I could use it anywhere in the world, without being charged...all I'd be charged for was my monthly rate. And THEN, I wasn't told that if I even had my phone turned ON, while on a Carnival cruise, I get charged $7 a MINUTE. So now I'm stuck with a $750 + cell bill, even though I tried to do everything right. Fucking cell companies, fucking Carnival...GRRRR.

My heart goes out to ya, Ashleigh. Itr truely does. NO bullshit at all. That is a fucking attrocious bill and one of the worse ones I've ever seen. :(

As for myself I don't even own a cellphone, oddly enough, which surprises MANY. meh I just use groundlines and everyone once in a while I'll ask one of my family relatives to dial a number on they're cellphones, as the monthly unlimted minutes bills as well as the pressure of trying not to lose those teeny-tiny fuckers as well as the many myths of the (supposed) brain tumor damage will pretty much scare me off from life from ever truely owning one, I can tell ya that right now. If I was a much richer man I would gladly help you with that bill, but sadly such is life & long distances. :(
