Walmart, Amazon, Ebay, Sears remove Confederate flag

OK, here's where I say that this is going over the top.

I saw that story yesterday, and yeah, it's just dumb. I've got no opposition to private citizens appreciating and flying the Confederate flag, it's a well designed flag, unlike a lot of flags you see these days. I've seen the flag supporters arguments morph over the last few days from, "it's not racist!!" (which is demonstrably false) to, "yeah, but" arguments. An individual might not see the flag as racist and might not harbor any racist tendencies, but to deny the intrinsic and inherent racism the flag represents is the kind of stuff Fox News has made huge bank off of since 1996.

Do you watch Fox News? Seriously, how much time have you actually spent watching it?

I'm not a regular viewer. I suppose you're going to argue the "Fair and Balanced" line, again. Thanks for illustrating the point.

Not really. So you are not a regular viewer but are still in the position of knowing what a farce it is.

No, thank you for illustrating mine.

People in the U.S. still using the confederate flag because of some perceived notion of heritage or pride, or really any other reason would make about as much sense as people in Germeny wanting using the **** swastika because they see it as a symbol of unity and efficiency.

It can't be "heritage, not ****" when one's heritage IS ****.

As long as they also ban t-shirts bearing the likeness of dou"che" Guevara, I'm good with it. But it is a part of history and Bill and Hilldebeast Clinton apparently loved that rag, so it has some historical resonance to race baiting idiots.

I don't think it belongs on a flagpole at state buildings.

It is a part of history like the **** svastika is. It literally stands for states that decided to oppose America, at least the America I think you stand for. The one that is against slavery and pro equal rights for everybody.

The flag is not a "Rebel Flag", it is a "Slaver Flag"

No, I'm not a regular viewer, but I watch often enough to know that they're running the same business model that they always have. I love how you defend Fox News, you don't hear me defending MSNBC.

How is asking you if you watch a defense?

The confederate flag is a symbol of states rights not racism.

That's an unfortunate perception. How do you explain the following passage from the Texas Declaration of Secession in 1861?

We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable.

How is asking you if you watch a defense?

Seriously, you say I can't know what a farce it is if I don't watch it, that's not defending it as not being a farce? Ok. Maybe my comprehension is slipping, but I don't think so.

Anything from Texas is to be kept at arms length.
A small number of half wit, angry, useless people have adopted it as their symbol.
It always amazes me how people equate the civil war the war to end slavery when such a small percentage of southern people were slaveowners??
racist ideas should be discouraged and the world is certainly a better place without slavery but when someone ignorant/ angry does something ignorant/angry I refuse to be reactionary and or have it sway my opinion.

While I agree that any private citizen has the right to fly any flag they wish, to deny the inherent racism represented by the flag is an act of willful ignorance. You summarily dismiss an official document that explicitly states The Confederacy viewed Africans as an inferior race because it came from Texas, again, you have to bury your head in the sand not to see what is plainly spelled out. I agree that it's mind boggling that such a small percentage of the population of the South convinced the vast majority to fight for a cause they didn't benefit from, the parallels to the current GOP and their blind sheep is really quite remarkable, if not surprising.

Texas was a very small part of the confederacy if you can produce documents from the true power of the confederacy, that would be Virginia, your argument would gain some credibility as it stands you are only stating your perception of this particular flag.
In the end a flag is only a flag.

Also another long pushed myth is that this war was to end slavery the confederates considered the war about northern aggression they were protecting southern soil from northern invaders. Lincoln had an eye on history and the countries legacy by using his war powers to eliminate a terrible evil otherwise he would have gone down in history as the president that ******** his fellow Americans.

Here's four other states chiming in-

South Carolina, Mississippi (which was particularly blunt: “Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery — the greatest material interest of the world.”), Louisiana, Alabama (“the election of Mr. Lincoln cannot be regarded otherwise than … an open declaration of war”)

You can continue to assert the flag doesn't represent racism, but you're wrong. Whatever, you've got the right to believe anything you choose, unfortunate that facts don't seem to mean anything to you.
