It is true that Sweden has a lot of social programs, but that doesn't make it a socialist state. The vast majority of the political commentary that I've read on the country usually starts out with a disclaimer that Sweden is not socialist. I’ve also read some blogs from Swedish citizens about the socialist label, and 95% of those either disagreed, or were downright belligerent in their defense of not being a socialist state. A number of other countries have large-scale social programs, Canada for one, but it’s not accurate to label these countries with the all-encompassing term, socialist.
