Pretty over-the-top but that's the point. "Socialism" is one of those inflammatory buzzwords that's guaranteed to generate a conditioned response from certain political types. Our cultural order and infrastructure would be torn apart if it weren't for socialism. A certain degree of socialism is necessary in any society....hence the name I suppose. :dunno:
I have to agree, it's certainly over-the-top.
Socialism is a wonderful concept, but is absolutely unworkable as it's such a breeding ground for corruption, or worse. Somalia and **** Germany are prime examples of why it cannot work.

Sweden is a constitutional monarchy run by a Parliamentary democracy.
I think the best thing about this video is that it proves how easy it is to make fun of people who spout the word "socialism" when they don't have a fucking clue what the hell they are talking about.

Socialism is an economic theory, not a form of government. You're not making consistent analogies, Connor.

The people that scream about socialism being evil are too stupid to realize that they benefit from programs that follow the socialist model. Social security, medicare/medicaid and unemployment benefits all follow the socialist model. Even private health care follows the socialist model. If everyone paying for private insurance were to get sick and require claims to be paid the insurance companies would go bankrupt. There simply isn't enough money to pay for everyone in the event they all got sick.

It is true that Sweden has a lot of social programs, but that doesn't make it a socialist state. The vast majority of the political commentary that I've read on the country usually starts out with a disclaimer that Sweden is not socialist. I’ve also read some blogs from Swedish citizens about the socialist label, and 95% of those either disagreed, or were downright belligerent in their defense of not being a socialist state. A number of other countries have large-scale social programs, Canada for one, but it’s not accurate to label these countries with the all-encompassing term, socialist.
I could not agree with you on this more. It is nothing more than ignorance that makes people say the most STOOPID things. One of the biggest problems are those that do not benefit from this and that would be the rich and those that don't want to pay their fair share. So socialism is bad for them and they don't benefit from it in anyway. Just remember this......

I agree. "Communist" China quite obviously has a lot of free-market economic aspects to it, yet it is a totalitarian state. The "capitalistic" United States has a large number of socialistic aspects to it, yet it remains a republic form of government. That's why labeling **** Germany or Somalia (Somalia has a free-market economy) as being "socialist" states is a misnomer, hence my point about Sweden. Metaphors get mixed when one compares an economic system with a form of government. The two can be and almost always are mututally-exclusive of each other.
