Models like Leah need to trademark their names that way when they leave a site they can actually continue to use them. I mean if you've spent 5 years at one site and you decide to part ways and the site gets to keep the name then you've essentially got to start over. They've got to remember that their name is their brand so protect it and make it a good one.

So you trademark a name and renew the rights when needed? Some girls working today are using the same name as adult stars that retired years ago so I was curious as to how that all worked.
That's pretty much it. The only name you own is your birth name. If you go by a stage name then you need to pay for the trademark so no one else gets to use it. If you let it expire then it's fair game. Or if you own the trademarked name still you can sell it to someone else.
