CBC never HAD to pick a new song. They could've and should've ponied up whatever dough Dolores Claman was asking for and kept it. It's more a part of Hockey Night in Canada than Don Cherry, Ron MacLean, or anything else. Shame on CBC for just not getting it and letting finances get in the way. I will never forgive them for letting that theme go.

True. The CBC ponied up the cash for MacLean and Cherry but not for the theme song. Truly f**ked up for us hockey fans. Weird to hear it during a TSN broadcast.

Anaheil 2 - Montreal 2

2nd Period

1:34 Kostopoulos score for Habs.
2:40 Perry for Ducks.
4:40 Kunitz for Ducks.

Carbonneau call Halak off the game and Carey Price is sent into the nets. Halak was definatly out of his mind, out of his usual confidence... And against a team like the Ducks, a goalie cannot have a bad night.

Ducks are still trying to intimidate Habs but it isnt working besides both teams are short-tempered, hence a lot of indiscipline penalities.

16:39 Moen score a SH goal for the Ducks. That goal really hurt. After trailing 0-2, Habs had took the lead 3-2 only to get back 2 goals short.. 3-5

Josh Georges closed his hand on a puck in the Habs zone so a penality shot is called. If its in, we better call it a day. Saved by Price!

A very nasty head-shot from Getzlaf on Sergei Kostitstyn. Getzlaf jumped off the ice, both gloves and stick high and headshoted Kostitsyn... He isnt even penalized.

I forsee more fights and less goals for the 3rd. Habs are really rusty after a 5 day break and the Ducks are opportunistic, deserving to win. Scott Niedermayer is playing like an ice God tonight: he is everywhere. By far the better player of both teams tonight.

Anaheim 5 - Montréal 3

3rd period is about to start.

boy, Tampa doesn't even look like they want to be playing tonights game. 2-0 Sharks after 2. TB is being outshot 2-1 again. that's getting old

I thought you're the loser who wanted to quit the site. Hockey is big in Canada.

Anaheim 5 - Montréal 3

5:40 Teemu Selanne scores on a PP. Ducks leads by 3. The Bell Center is suddenly silent.

The Habs are still fighting. They know they can score 3 goals in 15 minutes. The Ducks arent even trying to ****** anymore, sitting on defense, around Jean-Sebastien Giguère.

13:45 Tanguay scores! His 2nd of the game and already his 5th of the season. Habs are still trailing by 2...

Carbonneau is pulling is goalie with around 1 minute to go. Risky buisness and quite surprising with 2 goals behind. Good decision, in my opinion, afterall loosing 6-4 or 7-4, what is the difference?

End of 3rd Period
End of the game

Final Score: Anaheim 6 vs Montréal 4 (official scoreboard: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020107.HTM)

Noticeable facts:

Jean-Sébastien Giguère faced 51 shots
Alex Tanguay scored 2 goals.
Chris Higgins got a point at his frist game this year (a pass).
Scott Niedermayer played like a Norris trophy winner tonight.
Jaroslav Halak is being pulled for the first time in his career.
1st loss in regular time this season for the Habs.

What is with the Cliff Ronning thing? I hope Vancouver isn't retiring the jersey since other players deserve it before he does.

Not to mention the TSN opening sucks...

I remember seeing Stephen Colbert wave an American flag and eat a hot dog to the song on his show. Almost prefer him getting it then TSN. At least the Colbert Report is on CTV.

And how about them Canucks? 6-3 over the Oilers! Booyah!

Raymond and Hansen with 2 goal nights! Wellwood playing well! I'm lovin' it!

So I guess the tubby has lost some weight? Sucks to be a Nucks fan since this is the second overweight guy in the modern NHL. Wasn't it Krutov who packed on the pounds when he started playing when the famous Russian KLM line started playing in the NHL?

At least it's not as hilarious as Keith Tubchuck when he showed up at the St Louis camp a couple years ago.
